I was late to the R.E.M party, having only listened to the odd tune here and there. That changed when I took the time to listen to Fables of the Reconstruction with no distractions. So, for the #TuneTuesday prompt #IGetItNow, I should go with that whole album.
But not so fast! The first tune of theirs I remember getting into was Begin the Begin, which high school bandmates forced me to learn for a reunion on winter break of freshman year. It's my favorite memory of playing with those guys.

Couple of friends are Sleep Token fans. I'd never heard of them, despite them having a huge fan base. I asked them to give me one song to listen to,they both said this one in unison. For #TuneTuesday #IgetItNow

The #TuneTuesday theme this week is #IGetItNow: songs that help you understand the appeal of an artist (or in this case, a record).
For my pick, I’m going with Jimmy Cliff, “The Harder They Come” from the soundtrack album to the movie of the same name.
I’d been aware of this album for decades but never bothered to listen to it because I couldn’t imagine a soundtrack could be THAT great. But it IS that great. Everything good about reggae condensed into 10 songs.

Based on the radio, I thought country was about whining. Both the vocals and the instruments.
Turns out, I like the outlaw side of country better. It's less pop and stereotype and more folk rebellion.

It took me a long while to realize that the radio was not actually representative of genre. In fact, the radio typically foisted the status quo version of most things.
Based on the radio, I thought R&B was mostly about generic hook ups.

This week's theme is songs that made you realize why others liked an artist. As a young adult, I was perplexed by Björk. I dated a few women in the 90s who loved her and I was slow and uninterested in listening to much beyond my usual selection of punk and ska. And then I heard this song and my opinion shifted radically and has never gone back.
Björk, "It's Oh So Quiet" (1995)

Tune Tuesday's theme this week is I Get It Now, songs that make you realize why others like the artist.
I can't really think of a specific artist, BUT I did used to have a huge Anti-bias against K-Pop boy bands.
That was until I heard Shinee "Lucifer", and that song caused me to get rid of the ridiculous prejudice I had against boy bands.
