  17. Jordan's rule (Ecogeographic rules 🌍)

Jordan's rule is an ecogeographical rule that describes the inverse relationship between water temperature and meristic characteristics in various species of fish. The most commonly observed relationship is that fin ray, vertebrae, or scale numbers increase with decreasing temperature. The rule is named after David Starr Jordan, the father of American ichthyology....

Paedophagy in its general form is the feeding behaviour of fish or other animals whose diet is partially, or primarily the eggs or larvae of other animals. However, P. H. Greenwood, who was the first to describe paedophagia, defines it to be a feeding behaviour evolved among cichlid fishes.

  25. OMG I saw the small fish again!

I was swimming in the same spot in the very shallow water near the edge of the sea, and tapping pebbles brought the fish to me again.

There were two of them this time, both swam right up to me and were watching me closely.

And then! I saw! The BABY! Tiny almost translucent little fish! So they're parent fish, guarding babies!?!? Maybe?!?

I think it might be some kind of wrasse? About as long as my finger, and thin, with delicate ultra-violet-like patterns on the side of its head.

  35. These fish, which are among the most abused in the #AquariumTrade, grow more than 4 feet in length, and are by nature, gregarious, preferring to swim with others of their kind.

A home #aquarium no matter how large, is no place for these aquatic marvels.

Unless you have a private pond, spanning acres (like 👇🏽) please do not buy these fish.*

Looking much like the Water type Legendary #Pokemon #Kyogre, an albino giant river catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) peacefully swims in the waterways of Niravana park, #Hiranandani #gardens, #Powai as visitors to the park (sounds left in), enjoy a slice of #nature in the middle of #India's largest #metropolis, #Mumbai.

Endangered in its native #Thailand, the species has been widely introduced in the country as food, and ornamentation.
