Looking forward to a very Hobbity weekend.
Hoping to finish the bee and honeycomb embroidery today so that tomorrow I can sew my Hedgerow Dungarees
Gonna be baking some french bread today to go with the gumbo which I'll also be starting on shortly. Plus sourdough dumplings for hubby's stew as he doesn't like gumbo.
Tomorrow I'll be making some sourdough bagels and I'm thinking of doing a lil olive sourdough loaf as well.

I did it! I did it! I did it!
I picked up our weekly grocery order on my bike.
The trailer attachment didn't fit (will need a teensy mod that I didn't have time for this morning) so backpack, cargo rack, and two panniers! But I fugging did it.

Fresh lemonade and fresh baked pretzels. It's a tasty day in this Hobbit home.

Super productive day after managing to go back to sleep this morning.
Made new England rolls for tonight's dinner. Baguettes for tomorrow.
Have potato slices drying out to make fresh crisps for dinner.
Also did all of the laundry (sheets, towels and clothes!), cleaned the living room, gave the couches a refresh with hypochlorous acid water (I love my Nellie's 99).
Now we're curled up watching f1 sprint quali.
Absolutely lovely Friday.

I did it!!
Took a min to figure out how best to secure the bike to the rack. Even with pictures it's hard to judge size (lol)
But managed to get the back tire and frame to the rack with the litelok x3 and then the front tire to the frame with the litelok core plus.
I am ridiculously pleased with myself and feeling a weeee bit smug if I'm being honest lol.
(super glad my backpack arrived today, made everything easier)

Treated myself to a new ironing board. Besties, it's incredible.

I'm in love, actually. Having good tools makes such a big difference.

Very short ride today in the rain. The rain wasn't actually too bad but my glasses were definitely getting watery! (sunglasses not script - but I have photosensitive eyes so going w/o is not an option)
After yesterday's awful migraine it was nice to get out for a small bit even if the activity did bring back a smol headache.
Now I have some baguette dough proofing and I'm about to curl up with my murder show (Shetland)

FINALLY got things put away in the living room (it was a mess while I worked on sewing stuff).
So this morning, *before coffee* I swept and mopped the floor.
It's cold and sunny outside. There's a bowl of overnight sourdough waffle batter ready to go for when kiddo wakes up.
The birding station is full of birds (the stellar's jays are back!)
Life is good.

Planning a little adventure date on the weekend to a local park hosting a cherry blossom festival, and it's also an Urban Sketch meetup.
There's gonna be food trucks (for hubby) and I'm ordering a hanami bento box.
Besties the way I am so excited for this!!!

Plans on this rainy day include curly hair wash day (iykyk) and painting. Maybe some more crochet in the evening after family zoom dinner.
Debating between watching the two towers or Ghibli movies (Kiki, howl and Totoro) while I paint. Either way way we are leaning into the whimsy today.

A lazy Sunday is on the agenda today.
Will be tracing out patterns for the costume commission I got. Possibly cutting some or all of the muslin for the toile. (back pain depending)
Set some sourdough bagel dough proofing last but idk if the starter was active enough. It's been cold.
Gonna start my junk journal while we watch the f1 race later in the afternoon.

We started making dinner a little more whimsical lately by always lighting candles. 10/10 recommend
Also kicking off my birthday week with homemade crab rolls, another excellent choice.

I am become Crow Friend!!
We went on a little walkies today and partway thru a crow perched near us and started cawing loudly.
We reached the house and I put Dexter away then called "Hey crow" like I always do and two of them SWOOPED down to the yard before I even tossed the peanuts.

I retreated inside to watch from the kitchen window and they were fighting over the peanuts. So I grabbed more, went to the door. They hopped away but didn't take flight.
Tossed a couple more, calling "hey crow" and went back inside to watch.
It's so fun watching the dynamics of the murder. Some obviously have higher rank than others. I think one might be the baby that was hanging around this summer. They were the last to get some peanuts.

So I heard some cawing while I was tidying up from lunch. Grabbed a handful of peanuts and went to the front door. Opened it and said "Hey crows" like I always do.
Immediately crows from down the block came swooping towards the house, perching on the roof, trees, powerlines. About a half dozen.
Tossed the peanuts and they immediately came down to start eating.

My hope for the afternoon is painting. It's been WAY too long since I've pushed a brush around.
I also wanna trim some sketch pad pages down to 2"x3" pieces for a SekritArtThing.
Really, what I'm saying, is that I'd rather like to be offline most of the day.

I might be addicted to bird feeders, lmao.
Just got a new one - The Brome Squirrel Buster Finch feeder. Filled it full of Nyjer seeds, hopefully the little friends will like it. It has a cage on it to attract more clinging birds.
Absolutely adore the sound of birdsong from the backyard all day, so it's worth the investment in my mental health imho.

Exhausting morning but I made 27 of these beautiful ravioli filled with cheese and chicken.
It's kiddo's birthday tomorrow so they're in the freezer for now and the tomorrow I'll cook them and add a hazelnut brown butter sauce.

We don't do Christmas in this house... But we are having turkey today because turkey is cheap this time of year. Also it's yummy. And also...

And for extra Hobbit points, I used two rotisserie chickens for these, and then today I've got the bones and veg scraps simmering for broth that I will pressure can tomorrow as I used the last of October's batch making the roux for the kroketten!
