🇬🇧 Grand Tour of Western France - Day 9 - March 7, 2016
First day in the Loire Valley and its many castles...
Tours is the city of Martin, a oman legionary from the 4th century who became bishop of Tours and famous for the episode of sharing his cloth.
His tomb is located in the basilica bearing his name (photo 1).
Following the Loire, towards Blois, you can take this beautiful panorama of Amboise and its royal castle. (photo 2)
In Blois, after lunch, a visit to the royal castle was on the program but for this post, I choosed a nice view of the city (photo 3).
And to end the day, a visit to the Castle of Chambord was obligatory. By far the most impressive of those I visited. The most sensational architectural element is the famous double helix staircase.

After this last visit, it was time to go to the hotel in Meung-sur-Loire before a final day in the Loire Valley before heading towards Champagne and getting closer to Belgium.
Have a nice evening! 👋 🙂

The last century stored its atrocities in ink, paper, and film.
You couldn’t delete them quietly.
Today we document everything —
inside systems owned by people who profit from the chaos.
The internet made memory a battlefield.
The digital world makes history editable.
Don’t expect another 60 years of stability.
Hope for six.
If stability ever returns….#DigitalMemory #HistoricalPreservation #InformationControl #NeverForget #MediaLiteracy

Re: erasure at historical sites, national parks, etc. in the United States:
Reading this article about the removal of a slavery-related exhibit at one of the historic sites in Philly - at the house where George and Martha Washington trafficked in people they enslaved... and it has me thinking...
I wonder how hard it would be to take the old exhibit text that is removed, create a zine/brochure out of it, and just literally start handing out materials on the street outside of modified sites.
I know there are programs to save the original texts of exhibits/sites. Does anyone know if there are any programs working to provide that text on the ground, near the exhibits themselves?
Please share if you have any leads, and feel free to boost.
