Oggi parte la #Hardrock100

I’ve had the worst insomnia lately. Just before falling asleep, though, I sent Chris Jones and Costa Alimonos good vibes to rally, as they were nearing Cunningham.
I woke up 4 hours later to the sound of people running alongside and encouraging Alimonos to keep pushing, “You can still make it!”
Costa Alimonos was the #HardRock100 2024 final official finisher.Chris Jones completed the course (but did not kiss the Ram) about 25 minutes later. #running #trailrunning #DigDeepGetItDone

Eine der coolsten Sportlerinnen für mich: Courtney Dauwalter #Ultramarathon Genie und so sympathisch. No Coach - no training plan, loves fastfood (also while the races) <3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEg_p1Lw2l4 #laufen #utmb #hardrock100

Didn't get into #Hardrock100 and have no other lotteries that I am waiting on. Also not signed up for any races for 2024!
Looking at:
- Various Moab Mad Moose events - Jan, Feb, Mar - All repeats for me
- Whiskey Basin Trail Runs - April - I have a work trip to Vegas that week
- Cocodona 250 - May - If have crew/support...
- Tushars 100k - July - Seems like a must do for the southwest
- San Juan Softie 100 - August - https://sanjuansoftie.com/ - Local -
@dominicvfx Its been a minute and I have recovered. #Hardrock100 is awesome and amazing. Counter-clockwise while considered ‘easier’ is still ‘running up the ramps and down the walls' (AJW's term I think). Not a lot of downhill running to be had, lots of controlled fast hiking.
Aid station's are freaking top notch, seriously the best. I way over packed with such good aid stations.
Course was hot, dry, and lots of snow/marsh/mud on it. -
🇪🇸Javier Dominguez wins a 3rd place finish at 8:12AM, on his solo run. He did a fantastic job of managing a super run, without pacers or a dedicated crew!
🇺🇸 Courtney Dauwalter officially claims 4th place in the 2023 #Hardrock100, winner of the women's field and course record holder (in both directions of this race) at 8:14AM. Phenomenal!

I don't know that they have a presence on Mastodon but I'm so impressed with Run Steep Get High's live coverage of the 2023 Hardrock 100. From course broadcasting to interesting commentary, they've done a terrific job.
iRunFar has also done an incredible job of gathering information and sending in still images from remote locations on the course.
They both deserve to take a bow. I'm really grateful for the hard work of everyone involved. ❤️

Good morning!
🇫🇷 Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz won the 2023 #Hardrock100 at 5:00:07AM today.
🇫🇷 Benat Marmissolle took 2nd place at 5:50:06AM.
Courtney Dauwalter is currently leading the women and running in 3rd place overall. She is about 5 miles from the finish line.If you're looking for information on the race while you slept, you can find it on iRunFar's terrific 2023 Hardrock 100 liveblog: https://www.irunfar.com/2023-hardrock-100-live-coverage

Becky Bates a 61-year-old woman from BC, who just left Ouray, is running in 10th place for the women's field and 36th place overall. She's having an incredible race.
-
Goodness... Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz has arrived at Chapman aid station. He's absolutely flying through this race. He departs at 12:05 AM to make the 7 mi. run to Kamm Traverse "KT" aid station.
#Hardrock100 #ultrarunning -
There's a 74-year-old runner named Rick Hodges on course, and still running under cut-off, as he heads toward Animus Fork aid station.
#Hardrock100 #ultrarunning -
Race leader Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz is officially into the gnarly descent that stands between him and Chapman aid station, at 81 miles into the 100 mile endurance run.
#Hardrock100 #ultrarunning -
Courtney Dauwalter's running strong into Telluride.
Arlen Glick running into Telluride strong, too, as Courtney Dauwalter leaves the aid station.
-
Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz should be closing in on the San Joaquin Ridge now. I don't envy him the descent ahead.
Courtney Dauwalter and Arlen Glick are both about .5 miles from Telluride.
-
Javier Dominguez comes into Telluride. It looks like he's still got a strong appetite and seems strong. He'll be moving out without a pacer. It's a tough section, terrain-wise, but he seems confident.
-
Dylan Bowman is giving off a bit of grim determination, but he's eating and even managed a laugh before heading out of Telluride.
-
Once Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz crests the San Joaquin Ridge, he'll have to navigate a short, brutally steep descent into Chapman Gulch before reaching the first of the final three aid stations before reaching the finish line.
#Hardrock100 #ultrarunning -
Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz is on the 1,500ft ascent to the San Joaquin Ridge, about 5 miles away from Chapman aid station.
Dylan Bowman is a couple miles away from Telluride.
Javier Dominguez is about 3 miles from Telluride.
Courtney Dauwalter is about 3.25 miles from Telluride.
-
Dylan Bowman is through Kroger and on his way into Telluride.
Avery Collins made a super efficient stop at Telluride before heading back onto the course.
Javier Dominguez should be at Kroger now. Arlen Glick and Courtney Dauwalter are approaching Kroger, roughly together.
-
2nd place runner Benat Marmissolle looked a bit sore, moved a little gingerly when seated (while changing his sock, for example) but he ran well on the way into Telluride.
That tenderness could be the result of some mild deprivation, blazing past aid stations. His crew has laid out an array of fueling options for him to load up on. So he'll leave with a well stocked pack for the run to Chapman. He still looks determined, but he's feeling it.

The best part of #Hardrock100 weekend is tracking my friends from the comfort of my living room while they trudge around the San Juan Mountains of Colorado in the rain and lightning. Good luck, fellas.
-
Courtney Dauwalter, taking 1st place for the women, reached Governor at 9:16PM, and left at 9:17PM.
#Hardrock100 #ultrarunning -
Wow! Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz running into Telluride at 9:13PM, still running strong and fast. He still looks wide awake and fully focused.
