  1. D.C.’s crime rate is at a 30-year low. Safer than ever. So stop using “crime” as your excuse to grab power. This isn’t law & order—it’s lies & authoritarian theater. We see you, and we’re not buying it. Hands off D.C. #HandsOffDC #FreeDC #HandsOff

  2. We’re not physically able to #march in #handsoffdc today <sigh> but I’m scanning all local repeaters, 146.52 #callingfrequency and watching through #aprs hams light up the mall. Wb2ifs-10 gateway is on the air. Be safe yall. #Selfcareisresistance #AmateurRadio #staywoke

  4. "D.C. Police Officer Michael Thomas was off duty when he shot an unarmed man in Hyattsville in 2009, and the Metropolitan Police Department has been trying to fire him ever since."

DC's recently passed police reform legislation would prevent this sort of situation, but now Congress is trying to block that law.

  5. 14 House Democrats voted with Republicans to disapprove DC's police reform bill:

    Nikki Budzinski (IL)
    Angie Craig (MN)
    Henry Cuellar (TX)
    Don Davis (NC)
    Jared Golden (ME)
    Josh Gottheimer (NJ)
    Susie Lee (NV)
    Wiley Nickel (NC)
    Jimmy Panetta (CA)
    Chris Pappas (NH)
    Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA)
    Pat Ryan (NY)

  6. Twelve years ago today the #DC41—including Mayor Gray, 6 councilmembers, and activists—were arrested protesting the bipartisan congressional blocking of DC abortion funding. Sadly things haven't changed much. Maybe Democrats are more willing to stand up for abortion rights now, but we've found our current mayor is less willing to stand up for DC autonomy if she disagrees with the council on an issue.

  8. If the rhetoric about the criminal code revision emboldened criminals, maybe it wasn't a great idea for the police union and others to spread that misleading rhetoric (propaganda). #HandsOffDC

  9. Already, hundreds of thousands of voters in DC are disenfranchised at the federal level. Congressional overrides of DC laws erode what little democracy DC possesses.

  12. #HandsOffDC: DC Statehood NOW

On March 8, Congress voted to overturn DC law for the first time in more than 30 years. This is an incredibly dangerous precedent that threatens the safety and rights of the people of DC. Send a letter to President Biden telling him to veto this resolution and advance DC statehood now.

  15. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if DC starts not governing ourselves as we best see fit solely to avoid congressional interference, that in and of itself is congressional interference. #HandsOffDC #DCStatehood

  16. Angry about Congress and the president trampling on our local DC government? Rally Wednesday at 11am in front of Union Station and march to the Capitol to say #HandsOffDC.

  17. In 1992, when Congress forced DC to hold a referendum on bringing back the death penalty, #DCCouncil Chair John Wilson told people to vote against it, even though he supported the death penalty. He opposed congressional interference in DC's local laws. All DC elected officials ought to be willing to stand up for #DCStatehood and to say #HandsOffDC.
