I've been busy with some fiber arts while waiting for the weather to finish warming up for gardening season. I'm finally most of the way through this Gulf Coast Native fleece (a whole fleece - that's a lot of wool!) that I dyed with butternut hulls and coffee. It feels like it's taking forever, since I only have time to work on it every now and then. I'm looking forward to starting on the knitting-a-sweater phase of the project.

The beginning of a simple looped bag (the oldest form of naalbinding). I'm using a cotton yarn that's much softer than the nettle cordage Sally Pointer uses in the how-to video I'm following, so it's a little fiddly. I'm using the extra-large naalbinding needle that I made from the handle of a bamboo toothbrush.

Fumbling through felting tip #2: the hoop is optional!

And it's very easy to correct mistakes by felting over it! A little work can go a long way, so it's fast, too!

You'll also break needles. You may or may not go through periodic spells of 'gleeful stabbies' that precipitate a needle break.

I give it a 9/10 recommended for the #disabled and #chronicillness crowd.

Yesterday I started knitting again after years of not knitting a single stitch. I forgot how much I love it. 😁🧶

Finally finished the basket I started last autumn. The frame and ribs are wisteria. The gods-eyes are my handspun wool-alpaca blend that I dyed with sandalwood (that was an experiment I'll never repeat). Most of the weaving is braided cordage I made from day lily, yellow flag iris, and gladiolus leaves. I ran out of my homemade cordage and ended ip finishing the center of the basket with braided strips of leather scrap from some thrifted jackets I had used to reupholster our dining chairs. So it's a motley, rustic combination, but I'm happy with it.

I love this! I have two tin ladies - one a woman and one a mermaid. Mine have a string and when you pull it, the arms and legs/tail move and jump around. So fun!

Seeing all those pictures of other people doing the great jobs in mending things, I finally succumbed and got out a pair of socks that had a hole.

The thread was broken, I suspect it was caught somewhere because the break was rather clean. It were two threads and I tried an invisible mend. Only partially successful, but it's at the ankle so not that visible anyway.
