  1. I've been waiting months for my first wheel (I pre-ordered it) and my spinning group got me a card to celebrate its delivery 😭❤️

  2. My first "finished" project for #FinishOrFrogAlong ! I gave all my heritage breed sampler spins from #TourDeFleece2026 a wash and a good thwacking, then hung them out to dry. I'm still impressed by the variability in wool fibers AND how they turned out regardless.

They are "wet finished" but I still need to re-measure yardage and wind them into cakes so I can knit swatches.

Details on each in following posts: 🧵

  3. Freya's little helper was very polite while I was spinning today. she is proud to report that this yarn passes the sniff test.

  4. alpaca & merino crepe, a little under spun for fluffiness. this is the first half, there's another big bobbin to ply but my ankles are done for the day.

I'm running low on this laceweight merino so there's a subtle self-striping effect. this skein is ivory/light grey, the next skein is going to be light grey/dark grey and maybe some purple if I run out of grey

  5. made a big pile of batts for #handspinning - think I'll make more before I start spinning because these bonbons always go fast.

planning a cozy sweatshirt type project. or a woven blanket. I have a lot of this wool to use up.

  6. I've finally finished plying the results of my #TourDeFleece2026 spinning of my heritage breed samplers! They still need to be finished (washed, thwacked, etc.)

All but the outer two hanks are from 50g of fiber. The Lonk on the left is ~30g, spun after I gave up on my Nano, and the Alpaca on the right was 30g from the start. In between, quite a bit of variation in texture, softness, and diameter.

The Jacob "natural stripe" is sadly more muddy than I'd hoped! The singles had some distinct stripey character in places, but that tended to get muddled when twined with not-so-distinct sections. Oh well! It's still a nice heather effect.

  7. Oh hey! I finally have all my Tibetan Mastiff and/or merino swatches together for comparison!

Left to right: 3x prep/spin variants of 100% fur, 1x 25% wool, 2x 33% wool, 1x 50% wool. All are 3-ply. The fabric is somewhat dense for the blends in the middle: I probably should have gone up in needle size for the yarn, but I was keeping that factor the same between the swatches.

While the 75% fur (3:1 blend) seemed nice and fuzzy as yarn, similar to the 100% fur, it came out distinctly less fuzzy in the swatch. I now wonder what only 10% wool would be like, but I don't want to keep running tests until I run out of fiber to actually work with!
