This week's crafty blog post is a summary of what I spun during the Tour De Fleece. I got another chance to spin up some Haunui fibre, and it was so nice to spin.

I continue to spin the Soay fleece from my friends' sheep into usable yarn, and of course I tried some different techniques before finding the right one:

Anyone else thinking about doing Tour De Fleece this year? I'm in the mood to spin lots of things at the moment, not for any real use, but the joy of just spinning.

I finished spinning the singles for the Mega Multi Gradient, hooray! Just one more skein to ply, which will only take about half an hour, and it'll be done! The whole pound of fibre took 11 weeks to spin and ply. I won't know the yardage until after it's washed, but if it matches the other stuff I made (fingers crossed that it does, because it's supposed to), it's about 1800 yards of 3-ply fingering weight yarn. Pictures soon :)
It's strange not to have the wheel in the middle of the living room after so long. I'm not planning to start a new spinning project until the #TourDeFleece starts in July. Gonna focus on some other artsy-craftsy things until then.

It was too heavy to actually *drop* as a drop spindle and I had to just do a weird combo of twiddling it between my fingers and building up twist park and draft style
Remind me never to do a full 200g skein ever again

This was #TourdeFleece day 5 - I finished spinning up this fiber yesterday, and today I'll ply it with a white skein I have to make it into a 2ply.
Not sure what fiber I'll spin next. I have some camel, a LOT of alpaca, rambouillet / merino, and 1 bag of "I have no clue what this is"

Day 2 in #TourdeFleece! It's a pretty spin, a bit compacted through the years but I'm getting the hang of how the fiber wants to be spun.

"Continue on I-90 for 245 miles" says the GPS. And we're off for #TourDeFleece and the next leg of the road trip. #spinning #DHmakes #ACH2023
