  1. We're building new bridges and SIP links into our various reflectors; and to test the new infrastructure we've started with one that didn't previously have any analog access - ZL Region 2 - you're our test!

  2. Our IVR podcast player is now live on #NZSIP. There's more to come but here's three of my favourites to get you started!

These podcasts are provided as-is from their creators; we purely provide a convenient way to play them from your NZSIP, #AmateurWire or #HamsOverIP telephone service.

  3. Dial The (Amateur Radio) news by #NZSIP and Digital Voice New Zealand is now production ready with bulletins being automatically updated and the IVR telling you when the file was last updated before playing it out.

    Dial 69199 from your #NZSIP service or 640 69199 from #AmateurWire or #HamsOverIP #hoip

  4. It's been a week of #NZSIP announcements; there's another one coming later today as well but our interconnect with #AmateurWire is now operational. Direct Dialling between #AmateurWire, #HamsOverIP and #NZSIP.. With the closure of hamshack hotline it's time to join one of the exchanges on this little global network.

  5. Some fun to pass the time for the #ham #VoIP folks with the old #asterisk games IVR Adventure Game and Your Call Is Important To Us now available on #NZSIP and #HamsOverIP

  6. Getting my #asterisk back on helping out #NZSIP and interconnecting their #ham #VoIP service with #HamsOverIP

  7. I now have a working setup with HamsOverIP, through an IAX2 trunk managed by Asterisk. I have to thank @M0YNG and Shawn (KG4BHR) for their support - Christopher for sharing a working configuration, and Shawn for spotting my stupid typo! I have written up what I learned, and it will be in the HOIP wiki sometime very soon. In case you want to call, my number: 200307, but the phone is in my shack so I might miss you! My next task - get voicemail working... #HamsOverIP

  8. Ok - internal phones working, now I need to work out set up the HamsOverIP IAX2 trunk (in asterisk, without using FreePBX).

  9. A few days ago I set up my Cisco SPA-500DS attendant console sidecar and started populating the speed dials.

I'm available on both Hamshack Hotline and Hams over IP, plus a VoIP.ms DID number. However the sidecar is strictly HH only.

  10. @croyle @M0YNG @hamsoverip

I think it's better described as a PBX where all of the extensions belong to hams, and where some of the extensions are bridged to RF systems.

Within #HamsOverIP you are making VOIP calls which are full duplex, and you're calling on a SIP phone (or soft phone).

Where there are gateways to RF or to other networks usually there's a PTT sequence through DTMF tones (*99 to key up, # to unkey). And there might be transcoding going on between various digital protocols.

  11. Good to have a QSO call with Christopher @M0YNG and confirm that @hamsoverip works just fine for person-to-person calls. Not only that but since it's (just) a VOIP call, the connection is full duplex, you don't have to push to talk, and the sound quality is quite good.

    "Is it ham radio?"

Close enough to it for me! Though I'm sure some would object.

  12. OK, up and running on #hamsoverIP and a first QSO there with Steve #K4KSA in Florida, using Zoiper on Android.

If I understand the system topology, we were connected on Hams Over IP 15000 via Allstar 49050 which #N8EMA runs with a multiport connection to a few different nets.

Appreciate everyone's help in getting this started, and also to @Mark2E1CEQ for getting this started.

I will do a proper writeup after a little more experimentation.

  13. Had a nice chat with @Mark2E1CEQ just now (via Discord) re #hamsoverIP which is a VOIP SIP network for amateur radio. I would wonder if it's suitable for @DK1MI to patch in to the #Fedihams network.

  14. Getting set up on #hamsoverIP as a starting point (awaiting verification). I see @M0YNG with a discussion re that system.

  15. Am just beginning to look into #HamsOverIP, #HamShackHotline, #AmateurWire and #VoIP. I have an #AllStar account, which I’ve really only used so far to access the same conferences that I regularly access via Echolink. Considering the advantages of getting a physical phone to use with these services vs just via apps. Not sure how far into this aspect of things I’ll go, but it’s interesting. #KE0FFT
