We're building new bridges and SIP links into our various reflectors; and to test the new infrastructure we've started with one that didn't previously have any analog access - ZL Region 2 - you're our test!

Our IVR podcast player is now live on #NZSIP. There's more to come but here's three of my favourites to get you started!
These podcasts are provided as-is from their creators; we purely provide a convenient way to play them from your NZSIP, #AmateurWire or #HamsOverIP telephone service.

It's been a week of #NZSIP announcements; there's another one coming later today as well but our interconnect with #AmateurWire is now operational. Direct Dialling between #AmateurWire, #HamsOverIP and #NZSIP.. With the closure of hamshack hotline it's time to join one of the exchanges on this little global network.

I now have a working setup with HamsOverIP, through an IAX2 trunk managed by Asterisk. I have to thank @M0YNG and Shawn (KG4BHR) for their support - Christopher for sharing a working configuration, and Shawn for spotting my stupid typo! I have written up what I learned, and it will be in the HOIP wiki sometime very soon. In case you want to call, my number: 200307, but the phone is in my shack so I might miss you! My next task - get voicemail working... #HamsOverIP

Ok - internal phones working, now I need to work out set up the HamsOverIP IAX2 trunk (in asterisk, without using FreePBX).

I am not asking to have my hands held - I would love to see a working configuration with a one or more phones, asterisk and a trunk line (ideally HamsOverIP). If you have something you can share, I would be most appreciative, and also NOT bombard you with questions (I promise!).. (2/2)

* Cisco SPA525G - purchased (with sidecar).
* HamsOverIP - trunk applied for and received.
* Set up asterisk in VM, and run "hello world" task successfully.HamsOverIP has instructions for FreePBX, which sits on top of asterisk. Looks like installing FreePBX with existing asterisk install is not on, so I installed their ISO in another VM. It is running an old version of CentOS (kernel 3.*), and is full of ads... So, back to manual install in asterisk.
Now I need instructions! (1/2)

A few days ago I set up my Cisco SPA-500DS attendant console sidecar and started populating the speed dials.
I'm available on both Hamshack Hotline and Hams over IP, plus a VoIP.ms DID number. However the sidecar is strictly HH only.

I think it's better described as a PBX where all of the extensions belong to hams, and where some of the extensions are bridged to RF systems.
Within #HamsOverIP you are making VOIP calls which are full duplex, and you're calling on a SIP phone (or soft phone).
Where there are gateways to RF or to other networks usually there's a PTT sequence through DTMF tones (*99 to key up, # to unkey). And there might be transcoding going on between various digital protocols.
