I honestly had never heard of Novosibirsk before, (although I may have forgotten having read the city’s name in an old Tom Clancy novel 30 years ago). Turns out it’s a very large city with an interesting history. This #QSLcard from the Siberian town in the former USSR is for a QSO that happened on Feb 24th, 1984. #QSLcards #ke0fftQSLcard #KE0FFT

I have had a search saved on eBay for a JOCC Chicksands coin for years, just in case one ever appeared. This one showed up a couple of weeks ago for a reasonable price, and I was happy to buy it. Certificate received via e-mail for receiving one of the #Fram2Ham test SSTV transmissions back in February. A nice piece of wallpaper for the shack! What I actually received was the smallest recognizable portion of an SSTV pic possible, but it was the first time I’ve received anything recognizable. I was surprised to have received even that bit successfully, because I just had a Baofeng in the office, tuned to their freq (437.550MHz), w/ just the radio’s stock whip antenna attached. #KE0FFT

I collect inexpensive #QSLcards from places I’ve actually lived or visited. I was in Rio de Janeiro back in the early 2000’s for Carnival. This is the latest addition to the #QSLcard collection, and I think it’s going to wind up being one of my favorites. I really like the design. I’m going to try to get through this book in #MorseCode before I listen to the audio narration.

I was offered a free copy of the audiobook by the author. Kind of cool in a nerdy kind of way. I likely wouldn’t have paid for something like this; but who knows, maybe the stories will be interesting enough to get me practicing copying #CW enough to improve my speed a bit.
