Certificate received via e-mail for receiving one of the #Fram2Ham test SSTV transmissions back in February. A nice piece of wallpaper for the shack! What I actually received was the smallest recognizable portion of an SSTV pic possible, but it was the first time I’ve received anything recognizable. I was surprised to have received even that bit successfully, because I just had a Baofeng in the office, tuned to their freq (437.550MHz), w/ just the radio’s stock whip antenna attached. #KE0FFT

So part of the rest of the story from this morning is that I apparently had hit the “reset” button on the radio by mistake at some point the last time I used it.

I haven’t even used the radio in wide band mode since I got it, so I hadn’t noticed it was in WB yet here (but of course it is, and that’s why I was receiving that freq 10kHz up).

Tonight I was in Omaha, NE - listening to ESPN Radio out of Minneapolis / St. Paul Minnesota on KSTP 1500AM (ClearChannel 50kW) on the #CountyCommGP5SSB

Distance: Approx: 300mi / 483km. Not an overly impressive distance but it was fun to try to figure out what station it actually was. #AMDX #TruckerHamRadioDial #KE0FFTam #KE0FFT

The “Where Am I “ app is useful for me in one situation. If I’m driving in an area w/ bad weather, possible winds, flooding, hail, ice, or tornadoes, I’m listening to #wx radio. The NWS warnings list counties; I might not know which county I’m in right then. This app auto-updates like any tracker - counties also update. If wx, I turn the app on b4 I start driving - never touch the phone - if a warning comes out, I look down at the screen to see what county I’m in. #TruckerHam #KE0FFT #WhereAmI

Here’s a bit of fun #TruckerHam trivia for you. There is an O’Fallon, MO (off of I-64) about 37mi west of St. Louis, MO *and* there’s another O’Fallon, this one in Illinois (also off of I-64) about 18 miles *east* of St. Louis, MO.
