He’s half right. The time to “talk about guns” was in 1999, after Columbine.
The American PEOPLE have talked a lot about guns before, during & after every mass shooting since.
But the American CONGRESS (supposedly representing Americans) have listened mainly to their bank accounts, as fattened up by gun ideologues, gun lobbies & manufacturers, and gun-totin’ SCOTUS.

Why do Texans who want reasonable #GunLaws continue to vote for #Republicans?
Perhaps because of headlines like this one that remove responsibility from the Republican politicians who are blocking every attempt at passing reasonable gun laws.
Too often, in an attempt to be "neutral" journalists & editors fail to report the truth of who is responsible for the USA's lack of #GunSafetyLaws
Gun laws are not being blocked by some abstract idea. They are being blocked by Republican politicians.

If you care about the welfare of America’s children, you’re not banning books, criminalizing drag queens, outlawing the teaching of history, and whitewashing violent insurrectionists who’ve attacked the U.S. Capitol to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.
If you care about the welfare of America’s children, you’re voting to keep them educated, healthy, and in homes. And, for the keeping them healthy part, you’re voting for legislators who’ll pass meaningful gun safety laws.

If Republicans would protect America’s school children instead of their donations from the gun lobby, there’d be far fewer children maimed and murdered by preventable gun violence, and more happy, healthy children enjoying their LIVES, their liberty, and their pursuit of happiness.
