  7. @woozle My view is that the groups functionality is going to be external to the main Mastodon / ActivityPub layer. Most likely it will be some framework that uses Mastodon* but isn't Mastodon itself. Mastodon-as-transport-layer (with added goodies such as identity management, moderation, notifications, and another set of interfaces into the discussion).

    Mastodon as comments-system on blogs seems one approach. I'm not sure that's what a fully-evolved system will look like, but it's at least in the direction of a solution-shaped object, as they say.
