Found out at 4:40pm on Friday that I need to trek into Civic by 11:00am tomorrow (Monday) with the wee one for a CIC: Comprehensive Family Assessment with a Clinical Forensic Psychologist so they observe his interactions with each of his parents in turn (and theirs with him). Husband and I will have to do ours at 10:00am in a couple of weeks. And I'll be at the dentist from 8am that day. So who knows how that will go!
No school for him and no work for me on either day.
We have already taken him for a 2 hour developmental assessment at Coombs last Thursday, and will take him for a flu vaccination this Wednesday afternoon.
Plus, he has fortnightly OT Wednesday afternoons and will commence Speech Therapy sessions every second Thursday morning next week. Plus 4 x 2 hourly family contact visits with his parents (separately) each week.
And I do like him to go to childcare/preschool so he can socialise with other kids and, you know, hopefully do some actual learning.

@sbsfeed or like husband and me, who are in our mid 60s, and providing indefinite full-time care for our 3 yo grandchild. Thank goodness for subsidised childcare / early learning centres. I don't think we could manage without it.

Husband and I are still recovering from this stupid parainfluenza. The wee one tested negative and he's fit and full of beans. Sundays are usually playground days. I still get very tired easily, but after I did the washing, I thought the wee one deserved some fun. My compromise today was lying on a sun lounge while he enjoyed countless adventures in the backyard in between snacks and a picnic lunch. He was happy and I didn't feel so guilty.

I'm a bit groggy this morning. The wee one had a rough night. He woke with a nightmare (I think) around 12:40am but he also had a temp. He was very loving and told me several times that he was happy I was there in his room with him. He's still asleep but I think I was lucky to get two hours.

@Pepijn I believe you've just discovered the joys of #grandparenting, which I understand usually requires going through #parenting first.

My 6 year old granddaughter is writing in the (very fancy) journal that she requested for her 6th birthday. I am spelling out words for her, and bursting with pride. She's still in kindergarten.

I just want to say that I have the best grandchildren in the world, and I know that you do to.

My 5 and 3-year-old granddaughters had a sleepover last night. As we were eating dinner and chatting, the 3-year-old asked, "Grandma, why you have no kids? 😀
I tried to explain that her mom had been and was my kid, but I think it was a bit too abstract still at her age.

It was Washing Day at Zoo Train Station, so all the Animals, Engines, Carriages, People, Helicopters and Other Blocks had a lovely, warm, soapy bath.
After they were nice and clean, they all lay down on a towel to get dry. -
Because I am a super cool grandma, I just bought 4 tremolo arms for my oldest grandchild.
I have no idea what a tremolo arm is, but by golly, he has his.

Glorious full moon out there tonight.
Took my granddaughters outside to see it, then we lit the pumpkins that they (okay, their mom and dad, mostly) carved today.

Taking a picnic lunch to my grandma today.
Toasted orzo pasta salad with Kalamata olives, sweet peppers, and some of the last basil from my garden; roasted cauliflower with Parmesan, sauteed chicken with lemon and thyme vinaigrette. ☺️ -
Vernacular Magic. Words become amulets. We chant and become enchanted. Carry love in our orange beaks. Welcome strangers with gestures of care. This is how it feels to be alive. With our ancestors and one another. We are here. In the now.

Being Grandma: I went to retrieve a backup nose clip (for swimming) and found that someone had also stored their Playdough keepsakes and ice cream toys in the same box.

We are babysitting our 2-year old grandson & 2-month old granddaughter. We’ve only been here 2 hours. Grandpa told me he just “hit the wall.” Only 2 more hours to go! I got out the Duplo’s, so think the 2-year old will build towers for a little while so I can take care of little sis. #grandparenting
