I'm a bit groggy this morning. The wee one had a rough night. He woke with a nightmare (I think) around 12:40am but he also had a temp. He was very loving and told me several times that he was happy I was there in his room with him. He's still asleep but I think I was lucky to get two hours.

@Susan60 @feather1952 @CaringKinderSociety the wee one was desperate to go outside this morning even though it was cold and wet. So we went, in parkas and gumboots, on a dino hunt through the backyard shrubbery. It may well surprise some of you that we didn't actually spot any dinosaurs on this particular expedition.

@treleanor we played outside, and had a picnic lunch in the sun, and then played some more. All in the backyard. Wee one had a great one. There was a lot of running around. I was knackered.

We're up to the stage in the Kinship Carers assessments where we have to ask 4 of our friends to give us references (2 each) when CYF calls them. That's my task for this afternoon.

It's a difficult choice because:
1. No one I know likes to answer unknown numbers.
2. My closest friends are also friends with husband but he has no others.
3. I hate asking.

My 5 and 3-year-old granddaughters had a sleepover last night. As we were eating dinner and chatting, the 3-year-old asked, "Grandma, why you have no kids? 😀

I tried to explain that her mom had been and was my kid, but I think it was a bit too abstract still at her age.

It was Washing Day at Zoo Train Station, so all the Animals, Engines, Carriages, People, Helicopters and Other Blocks had a lovely, warm, soapy bath.
After they were nice and clean, they all lay down on a towel to get dry.

Toasted orzo pasta salad with Kalamata olives, sweet peppers, and some of the last basil from my garden; roasted cauliflower with Parmesan, sauteed chicken with lemon and thyme vinaigrette. ☺️

Hurricane or not, the grandkids are driving their parents nuts so they are all on their way here to let off steam until the worst of the weather hits, predicted around 2:00 last I checked. Will break into the emergency Oreos if I must.

We are babysitting our 2-year old grandson & 2-month old granddaughter. We’ve only been here 2 hours. Grandpa told me he just “hit the wall.” Only 2 more hours to go! I got out the Duplo’s, so think the 2-year old will build towers for a little while so I can take care of little sis. #grandparenting
