  7. 📰 The New Yorker, in an attempt to sound intellectual, published a piece where they pretend to be shocked that government agencies sometimes act politically. Who knew?! 🤔 Meanwhile, the CDC's asterisk scandal of 2025 takes center stage, proving that even footnotes can be infamous. 📉🔬

  10. How Did Elon Musk's Aides Lock Out US Agency Workers from Systems?

#ElonMusk #GovernmentAgencies #TechTalk Hey everyone! 😊 Let’s chat about something that’s been making waves lately: Elon Musk’s aides locking government workers out of computer systems at a US agency. 🤔 That’s quite the move, right? Here’s my take on it: Power Dynamics: It’s fascinating (and a bit worrying) to see ...

  11. I wonder if the only non-classified #FBI documents that the agency may release are blank pages. The #CIA may go one step further and give out old parchment paper. #GovernmentAgencies

  12. #Academics, #universities & #GovernmentAgencies are overhauling or ending #research programs designed to counter the spread of #online #misinformation amid a #legal campaign from #conservative politicians & activists who accuse them of colluding w/ #tech companies to #censor #RightWing views.

The escalating campaign — led by #JimJordan & other #Republicans in #Congress & state gov — has cast a pall over programs that study not just #political falsehoods but also quality of #medical info online.

  13. In 2005, #ClarenceThomas wrote the majority opinion in a case that EXPANDED #Chevron’s #protections for #GovernmentAgencies. 10yrs later, he was openly questioning the doctrine. Then in 2020, Thomas renounced HIS OWN earlier decision, writing that he’d determined the doctrine is #unconstitutional after all — a rare #reversal for a justice w/a reputation for being unmovable in his views.

  14. While most Americans aren’t familiar w/the 1984 case #ChevronvNRDC, it’s one of #SCOTUS’s most-cited decisions. #Legal scholars sometimes mention it in the same breath as #BrownVBoardOfEducation & #RoeVWade. In essence, #Chevron is about #GovernmentAgencies’ ability to issue #regulations. After a #law is enacted, it’s generally up to #agencies across the gov to make detailed rules to put it into effect. The Chevron decision said courts should be hesitant to second-guess agencies’ determinations.

  16. #introduction

    Hi,

I've been bumping around the internet industry since the early 1990s. There is record of my being one of the earliest webmaster (among the first 30) when I was in college.

I'm a believer in technology's potential for good and worry about its dark side.

    I'm running a startup helping #NonProfit and #governmentagencies in #HumanServices ( casebook.net )

In my spare time, I love #reading #writing and thinking about building a #BetterNet
