Participating in a future scanning session for the world of #ScholarlyPublishing and #ScholarlyResearch with a 5yr horizon. Have done my traditional 'it's #GoogleWave people! Pitch.

Fairly new to the #Fediverse so apologies if I'm off-base here, but...
What if the "waves" in #Firefly were not referring to a centralized service like the long-defunct #GoogleWave, but a decentralized protocol of thousands of bespoke applications all speaking a common language?
I think it's time for a rewatch, heh.

If it hadn't been killed in the cradle, I still think #GoogleWave would have been spectacular for telepresence TTRPGs. -

@fiercemilder - wow , how did you get hold of the #google planning document :) Reminiscent of #googlewave - they have done a fair bit of damage to independent email servers over the years. This seems plausible.

Holy moley jetpad.net/ and teem.works/ are collaboration tools running on top of swellrt.org/ and #swellrt is a freakin #googlewave #apachewave fork!
