Finally sat down and watched Gladiator since all I seem to be able to do in this heat is watch movies and binge anime. I also wanted to watch it before I see The Odyssey whenever that gets on streaming.
Was I entertained? Yes, but more in the "let's see how they treat this obvious plot" kind of way. It did make me interested about the real fall of Rome and the circumstances surrounding it, so it drew me in from a History perspective.
I don't know why it gets the "greatest film ever" comments because there is zero character development. Joaquin Phoenix appears to be the only person acting. The flow is extremely predictable, there's no need to guess what will go down.
So yeah it's a great spectacle of a film done very well without a lot of noticeable CGI. The testosterone fueled fighting happening all the way through was manageable as a storyline, but I could have done without the tiger scene.

Erinnere mich an den ersten Teil kaum, haha. Aber knüpft daran an. Viel Gewalt, Blut, Gemetzel und Kämpfe. Bildtechnisch sehr gut gemacht, die Besetzung passt auch. Plot ist nichts neues, aber okay. Denke wenn man den 1. Teil mag, dann auch den.
