  1. #sagemath #giac

    у нас в
:gentoo: есть версия giac-1.9.0.995-r2 но в :arch: давно уже завезли версию giac-2.0.0.10 и мне тоже захотелось попробовать.

    С помощью
    #undef HAVE_LIBFLTK_GL и выбрасывания gl2ps.c из src/Makefile.am + src/Makefile.in я её собрал

Стал сравнивать, какие новые файлы появились:
    1) /usr/lib64/libxcas.so
    2) /usr/share/doc/giac-2.0.0.10/xcas.html

Открыл я этот /usr/share/doc/giac-2.0.0.10/xcas.html в браузере - батюшки-светы, там же реально веб версия, представляете? Она прямо работает прямо в браузере, представляете, до чего техника дошла:

  2. I'm bummed out to see that GIAC stopped doing the Gold certifications in 2022.

Back then, you could train for the certification, pass the test, and then level up by writing a peer-reviewed paper on a topic related to your certification.

It brought a lot of recognition to the people getting the certs and had an added bonus of extending your certificate's duration.

  3. If you’re using #voltaire for your #sans and #giac index, the build and download option doesn’t seem to be working. Use excel to be safe and import it into Voltaire if needed for later.

  4. Whelp, it’s done. I just passed my GIAC Certified Intelligence Analyst exam. With that, after two years, I’ve finished my Graduate Certificate in Incident Response from SANS.

Looking at where I was when I started, I can’t believe how much I’ve grown as a professional. It’s been a wild ride. Now I rest…..

Just kidding still have a book to finish. 😅

  5. Question for the masses:
I need to get a cloud penetration tester certificate, but I'd like to have a focus in GCP specifically. I was interested in the GCPN from GIAC, but the areas covered specifically only say AWS and Azure.
Does anyone have any recommendations on a GCP specific pen test cert?

  6. :blobcheer:

Yay, passed my #SANS #FOR509 #GIAC Cloud Forensic Responder (GCFR).

I'd definitely recommend the course if one is interested in cloud and incident response (but finish the "basic" FOR508 before this course).

  8. There used to be a way to look up a list of #SANS #GIAC #GSE certified professionals. Is there still a way to do that? I’m curious how many there are as of today prior to recent changes. If the number goes up substantially after recent changes that may indicate it got easier. The practice test I was sent for my recent renewal (but did not get when I took the written renewal test) was definitely easier to prep and study for - and I got much higher scores on that compared to the test I took. However it was not “easy.” The problem with the GSE in prior incarnations is that it was so impossible to get and so many people failed - some I know who are very good security practitioners- that hardly anyone understood it or knew what is was. Even though a CISSP is easier to obtain (I’ve been told), because it is more widespread it is more recognized and understood and possibly more valued as a result. So recent changes may be good for those with a GSE. A more reasonable approach to the test might make it more popular (again, not easy, more reasonable.) However the people who got it before these changes should be searchable and have a star by their name! ⭐️ Because that on site stressful and expensive process was definitely harder! Here’s to you my fellow old-school GSE’s. 🥂
