I don't know how I can convey how much I enjoy #geotastic (#geoguessr like).
I've acquired all sorts of very niche knowledge about #Japan urbanism that I can now pinpoint fairly accurately in "no move" mode.
It really feels like a superpower, it's so much fun.

Welche Ortsnamen-Endungen kommen in Deutschland wo vor?
Ich habe diese Visualisierung jetzt schon ein paar Mal für #GeoGuessr und #Geotastic in Deutschland empfohlen.
Wenn man an einem Ortsschild mit "-itz" oder "-ow" steht, ist das ein sehr guter Indikator für Ostdeutschland.

Ich habe an #Geotastic seit Dezember etwas das Interesse verloren, aber das hier sieht ähnlich spannend aus: Den Aufnahmezeitpunkt eines Fotos raten.
Auch hier kann man viele subtile Hinweise verwerten wie Kleidung, das Design von Autos, Gebäuden und Alltagsgegenständen, Merkmale des Fotos selbst und vieles mehr!

I just started again playing #geotastic with family and friends, one of my favorite Covid lockdown games. It's so impressive how a single developer has been keeping this great game available for free for two years now 🤩 Gaming aside, I found it really interesting to see how open he talks about people's donation behavior - and that you can also support by setting up your own Google Maps API key.
