This is wrong in two crucial ways.
Firstly, the US has unlimited power to rack up debt and avoid paying. Because what its "national debt" actually records is imperial tribute from vassal states. US empire will collapse before it ever pays up.

It is objectively true that according to every objective measure Republicans claim to care about, Democrats are better for the economy than Republicans.
Like many other Republican pundits and politicians, Will has made a career out of insisting that true is false, up is down, black is white, and war is peace with regards to the economy.
