@ondra I'm not so sure about that (but also lack confirmation). The #DMA does not only mandate #DataPortability with other #gatekeepers but for "end users and third parties authorised by an end user, at their request and free of charge" (see Art. 6(9) and (10) DMA).
This sounds very much like an open standard or at least publicly documented #API to me.

The #EU is #investigating whether #AppleMaps and #AppleAds should be designated as “#gatekeepers” under the #DMA. If you use #Google #search, you only look into a catalogue, selected by a transnational company. The indexing pool has shifted further: Google shows new content only for a few hours… if the publisher authority is smallish.
"For these smaller players, it's not just about creating good content anymore – it's about convincing Google that your content is absolutely necessary for their index.
"Google has transformed from a comprehensive search engine into something more akin to an exclusive catalog.
"For users, it means that the information they're looking for might exist but remain undiscoverable through Google."

Let's make it clear; this is just another attempt at controlling the Android ecosystem, even after the #EU has struck down on #gatekeepers.
A similar example was when Microsoft had a monopoly (and still to some extent does) over SecureBoot PKI certificates. In essence the vendor selling you a platform also gets to rule said platform - with an iron fist.

It felt like kindergarten to do it but this week we @edri +others filed a complaint against #Google with the @EUCommission for breach of the #DigitalMarketsAct.
Despite the #DMA's clear obligation for #gatekeepers to allow you to uninstall pre-installed apps, #Alphabet claims this can also mean disabling. Yes seriously.
So we wrote a 7-page explanation why disable ≠ uninstall.
The complaint was filed together with @article19, @fsfe, @Freiheitsrechte, @HomoDigitalisGR and @vrijschrift 🙏

The way #Microsoft (and other #gatekeepers) present #DMA compliance is soooo annoying!
The "regulatory dialogue" with the Commission, according to #Linkedin's competition director, was a way for the company to "mature and progress in our DMA journey."
It's not a "journey", it's a law that creates legal obligations and prohibitions for the company. Get over it and get it down already. 😠

What are the penalties, random blocking of the services at the network level?Although we prefer the term #technoFeudalists to describe these entities (and entities, T'site Buyer, Akamai, Oracle, Alibaba, and Tencent which appear to be absent in the legislation), the term '#gatekeepers' is a fairly good indictment.

Still a bit stunned to realize what a great and highly underrated contribution #TerryHall of #TheSpecials #FunBoyThree #TheColourfield #TheLightningSeeds had made to the #SoundtrackOfMyLife and just about every song I ever knew by him, and some I'm just digging n and discovering tonight, in retrospect, now seem extra poignant, tremendous and far more wonderfully worthwhile than the American music marketplace general consensus #gatekeepers had ever given him credit for. So glad I got to see him a few times before he was taken away from us this week at age 63.
