This #woodblockprint “Plum Park at Kameido,” by #UtagawaHiroshige was also featured in the exhibition in #Dresden where I made a small pencil sketch. Now, at home, I’ve created a version using the Japanese GANSAI TAMBI Art Nouveau colors. For the plum blossoms, I used masking fluid. It was fun to think about what technique and what kind of paints I could use to reproduce the woodblock print.

I got this pretty #GansaiTambi #watercolor set from @aveleira as a birthday present. 💙
Not sure when to use them, but I think this could be a nice palette if you like to use one accent color for an otherwise b/w painting. -
I recently got a set of kuretake gansai tambi opaque watercolors. They’re a lot like between gouache and watercolors but have a glossy finish and doesn’t look as chalky when dry.
