  1. To Do List for #GamePrep Saturday:

    - Laundry! (LOL)
    - Put together notes for #Dragonlance session tomorrow
    - Pick background visuals and audio
    - Build #AlchemyRPG scenes for tomorrow
    - Clean up last night's BG3 gameplay notes
    - Rewrite BG3 character journal posts for website based on restart (had a few bad rolls that changed how the time on the beach ran)

  4. Preparing for tomorrow's #DnD session.

The PCs are going up against the guardian demon they inadvertently released when they spoke the wrong command for a magical portal. #GamePrep #GMPrep

  7. Figuring out NPCs for my #DnD campaign. To save on prep time, I'm trying to leverage the generic NPC blocks from the Monster Manual, and then tweaking (rather than building out the NPC characters with D&D Beyond, which is what I normally do).

I think this will work, though I'm disappointed there's no archdruid in #DnD2024 (though it's easy enough to use the one from Mordenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse). #GamePrep #CampaignPrep #DungeonMasterLife

  14. Experimenting with using tab groups to organize my encounters for tonight's Greyhawk '76 campaign.

All the monsters and NPCs are on D&D Beyond, and tonight's encounters have seven or so entries. That's a lot of tabs to be switching between (especially when you add in all the other tabs I'll open in game). #Greyhawk #GamePrep #DMPrep #DnD2024 #DnD5e

  15. Every GM needs to prep for their RPG campaign. And everyone does it their own way.

  16. I can be kinda horrible when it comes to prepping maps for my online #DnD sessions ... though I'm better now thanks to a Pinterest hack.

Well, maybe less of a hack and more of a "hey, let's use Pinterest to find and store maps BEFORE I need them".

    Radical thought, eh? #GMTips #DMTips #GamePrep #CampaignPrep #TTRPG #VTT

  18. Working on #Greyhawk76 and realizing I have no idea how to make a farmhouse in #Inkarnate. So I'm off to see what's available in community contributed maps. #DnD #DnD2024 #TTRPG #GamePrep #Maps

  19. This is super handy: A D&D calculator for determining the percentage chance of success given a d20, a skill modifier, and a difficulty class.

Plus you can set advantage, normal, or disadvantage AND add modifier dice (like from the spell Guidance)

  21. #Fallout2d20 tire kicking complete. I'm glad we did it; I needed the practice for the #MEPACon game I'm running next weekend.

It also gave me some ideas on what I need to prep, print out, etc. My scenario is an intro game, so I want to make sure it flows quickly/easily while retaining that #Fallout feel. #TTRPG #GamePrep

Using methods, that don't rely on some specific device, is the topic of this article. If you marry your process too greatly to anyone tool, there's always the chance you could find yourself without that tool.

Find a way to outline your game session or campaign, get a method, and a set of steps, but make sure those steps can work whether you're in Microsoft one note, or sitting with a pencil & some index cards.

  23. #Dragonlance #GamePrep this afternoon. :ablobcatbongo:

#AlchemyRPG has been running *really* slow for the last couple of days since the last update. So, hopefully we can get through the game without any major issues.

Tonight will conclude the Test of High Sorcery. We left off last week with the players walking out of a cave into a city in chaos beset by a flight of pissed off metallic dragons.

Created my main dragon NPCs. Now just setting up the encounter spreadsheet used to track combat.

  24. Prepping for my first #Greyhawk76 adventure. Drawing inspiration from the Dungeon of Dread "endless quest" book. #dnd5e #dnd2024 #GamePrep #DnD

  25. I really spun my wheels badly on my #GamePrep last night, trying to figure out how to get my campaign back on track.

I now have two hours and change to prep for tonight's game. And hopefully will have time to fit dinner in there somewhere.

  26. #LLM for #ttrpg?
Yes, I could definitely see some use there without devalueing the human mind.

I actually wanted to do something else for #gameprep, but now I'm playing around with #GPT4ALL again (#llama2 here, but I'm also trying out #mistral german and other models).

The local models (I'm not comfortable the online stuff, so I don't know the state there) still have their limitations, but they have their uses...
