I got an out-of-date Netgear R7000 router for free (sans power supply, though I had one in my spares bin) and brought it back to life and into service as a wireless bridge with the FreshTomato firmware.

I followed the instructions, and it works.

I successfully installed Fresh Tomato on an old Netgear R7000 router that was gifted to me (without a power supply, but I had a suitable brick in the parts boneyard).

Now it's no longer an unsupported hunk of plastic and silicon.

Turns out that we might be in your router too. If you use #FreshTomato 2024.1 or later then you'll likely have a copy of #libid3tag 0.16.3.

I recently discovered the absolute joy of being able to remotely wake computers from suspend—to facilitate maintenance on family computers, or to access my own desktop—by connecting to my #FreshTomato & #OpenWRT routers' web interfaces & using their #WakeOnLAN feature. It Just Works™!

Tomato also provides a nice "Wake" button right from the devices list status overview. Convenient!
I'm suggesting this feature in OpenWRT as well, to reduce the amount of clicks needed: https://github.com/openwrt/luci/issues/7298

Про роутеры.

Был RT-N66U.
На 10-й год работы ему стало плохеть.
Купил TUF-AX3000 и прошил в него мод #FreshTomato
Когда RT-N66U окончательно склеился, заменил его на TUF-AX3000.
TUF-AX3000 проработал примерно полгода и начал как-то странно глючить.
Заказал TUF-AX4200 на медиатеке и сразу зашил в него #OpenWRT
Сейчас вот трудится он.

Родителям недавно поставил Xiaomi Redmi Router AX6000 тоже на медиатеке и тоже перешил на OpenWRT.

AX3000 хочу попробовать сбросить и прошить мерлином. Авось что дельное получится.

Updated #FreshTomato #firmware on my #Netgear #R7000 #router and #ASUS RT-N66U that I use as a switch + WiFi AP.

For some reason it was a pain to get the WAN working again. Rebooting the cable modem and R7000 eventually cleared it up?

Noticed that #busybox #ntpd on the firmware doesn't respond to ntpq queries and is rather config-limited, so I installed the #entware version on the R7000's USB stick.

Also uninstalled #avahi because it's now built into the firmware - neat! Now do #wsdd2 please!
