When I was younger I was dreaming about having a very custom router with bare #Linux, without any custom configurators, web interfaces or other stuff which nearly every router has.
Now I know that this is possible but I don't know which routers provide such features.

For example my #keenetic has #entware installed, and yes, I have a custom ssh access with usual shell, without built-in configuration cli.
But this is not enough. Basically I am thinking about an usual Linux, probably Debian or something else, installed on a hardware which provides all router capabilities, such as wired and wireless connections, dual band, wi-fi 6 support, etc.
But I can't find such a router.
Probably #Mikrotik is what I want but I'm not sure.

Again, no built-in configurator, nothing happens automatically, every piece should be configured manually: netfilter, routing, connections, everything.

So I'm #asking #fediverse: do we have such stuff? Or it's unuseful at home and nobody wants that?

Updated #FreshTomato #firmware on my #Netgear #R7000 #router and #ASUS RT-N66U that I use as a switch + WiFi AP.

For some reason it was a pain to get the WAN working again. Rebooting the cable modem and R7000 eventually cleared it up?

Noticed that #busybox #ntpd on the firmware doesn't respond to ntpq queries and is rather config-limited, so I installed the #entware version on the R7000's USB stick.

Also uninstalled #avahi because it's now built into the firmware - neat! Now do #wsdd2 please!
