I have one other language prank story that I personally experienced (among several others that are probably urban legends). 1988, Cuernavaca, Morelos, #Mexico. I was a very young, innocent Mormon missionary. I had spent 2 months learning Spanish, which was just enough to realize, once I got to Mexico, that I didn't know Spanish.

My experience was largely walking around in a foreign country, understanding every tenth word, and hoping I could figure some things out from context. My first mission companion was named Medina. He was not always helpful in my language struggle.

During my first week we ate lunch at a very nice lady's house. Afterward, while she was in the other room, Medina whisper-coached me on what to say to the lady. When she came back in, I proudly said, "Gracias, señora. La comida estuvo muy asquerosa." As you probably guessed, Medina had me tell her that the meal was very disgusting.

The lady looked at me for about two seconds, then turned to Medina and started yelling at him. He was grinning like an idiot.

The space I've been in at #work has been getting logistically very difficult (beyond just going in to work). PLUS it's physically close to the #frenemy I'm trying to put some distance between.

Made some requests for a completely different and nicer space at a location also closer to my house but was keeping it mum from the frenemy.

Requests approved and pending. Frenemy was blocked from the same location.

Now ignoring his conversational openings to talk about it. #mentalhealth
