Just watched this video about a hacker putting a backdoor into XZ to get into openSSH.
Spoiler for the ending x3
The ending was great, because without that random guy searching through the code, it never would have been found, whereas a piece of code that isn't open source, nobody would know it's even there, and some of the employees could be being paid while they do it.
