Fair point indeed. So shall we file it under "rules are written in blood" and proceed to see the law adapting to this new world using those precedents?

In the 2000s the world needed to adapt to the reality of all that FOSS stuff being actually enforceable law and all and Linksys and AVM were the qualified and friendly precedents to advance the law back then.

Last time evolution to proper, sort-of stable and useful FOSS legislation took about 10 years.

I wonder what the equivalent of OpenWRT will be this time. At least that one's pretty useful, rite?

I'll give the probably engineer guy in the audience props for the most creative idea around the loss of implied patent grants.

It'll be the proverbial interesting times. Denying existence or usefulness of the LLMs won't get anyone anywhere.

Hearing all of the current thoughts in this matter sort of sounds to me like a slow convergence of the ideas of IP and patent law.

Quite the interesting fresh FOSS drama.
Curious to see how this will turn out. Two 🍺 on settlement.

Also, should the verdict go towards the Euro-Office fork will we see any precendence for other cases effectively weaking FOSS legal protection? Will distributors or integrators be impacted?

@Karlitschek being a clear FOSS native will surely have a proper strategy & plan forward laid out for this with his legal counsel. Or so one would hope.

Technically a pleasant product that one could only hope to be continued and advanced, ideally on combined man power of both parties.
