OK.

So I'm not saying that #Meg 2: The #Trench starring Jason #Statham is a good #movie. It has a lot of issues, jumps the #shark on more than one occasion (pun intended), and its scientific accuracy is...not.

But dammit, I fucking love the character of #DJ. Played by actor Page #Kennedy exceptionally well, DJ shows incredible growth between the two films. In the first movie, he's very ill-equipped to handle himself in the crisis that he finds himself.

Enter Meg 2. When DJ was asked to return to the Mana One, he was not going to be unprepared again. He learned how to fight, how to swim, and he became such a badass that another character described him as a veritable Batman, what with his very in-character leather backpack of tricks. You know, "for emergencies."

It's rare that a #film gives that much #character development to a side character, and I am delighted by him and his continued presence in the franchise.

If they ever make a Meg 3, I sure hope that he comes back.

Also Jason Statham and Sophia #Cai should come back too. They play off each other so well as adopted father and daughter.

If Meg 2 did one thing right, it was to characterize their heroes well. (The villains were #caricatures, but like I said, it's not a good movie. It's a fucking fun one!)
