I recently received a six-pack of Sunglider Golden Lager from #FirestoneWalkerBrewing, a limited-release seasonal #beer brewed with sustainable malt and hops. Part of the company’s Brewing for Tomorrow initiative, Sunglider is brewed with California-grown “Butta-12” barley that is floor malted, and Salmon-Safe hops from Oregon’s Goschie Farms.

#FirestoneWalkerBrewing is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, and (presumably) to kick of the celebration, the brewery recently sent me a number of beers to review, including the revamped IPA Mixed Pack and a six-pack of its original #beer Double Barrel Ale, which was the first beer released back in 1996.

#FirestoneWalkerBrewing offers up several different variety packs of its various #beer lines, with the eponymously-named Firestone Mixed Pack perhaps serving as the flagship pack, featuring four of its year-round hoppy ales. Looking to dip their toes into #DryJanuary? Try #firestonewalkerbrewing's foray, for example. Brewed to be a #nonalcoholic Blonde, 8ZERO5 represents tons of research by the brewers to create a beer that is attractive, aromatic, and flavorful while remaining true to the definition of non-alcoholic.
At less than 0.5% alcohol by volume, 8ZERO5 has notes of honey, banana esters, and graham cracker, while still being bright.

Course, it comes at a steep $175 cost. But you not only get a large open space to walk around in, you also get free bits from 20+ restaurants and entertainment.
And no, we're not plugging the event for next year. Only to say that this is a reminder of what beer festivals used to be like.

Context:
Over the weekend, as part of researching an article, we attended this year's #FirestoneWalkerBrewing Invitational in #PasoRobles #California. Now, in its 12th year, the event maintains its commitment towards providing an intimate experience for the brewery and imbibers.
What was striking about this festival compared to others is the requirement that either ownership and/or a head brewer/brewmaster be in attendance. In addition to this, the organizers politely remind the breweries to bring their best beers. If a brewery decides to ignore these two conditions, there is a chance they won't be invited back since this is invite only.
The result for the festival goer? An opportunity to speak with the person who makes your beer. Admittedly, this sounds great. But in execution, it can cause major queue backups.

Out of the can, Oaktoberfest produces a vigorous amount of khaki-blushed head. Resting on the surface of a dark golden, crystal clear pool, the head recedes quickly. All that remains is a thin wreath of lacing inside the glass.
Swirling and sniffing, we recover notes of toasted bread, a hint of woody spice, and some honey.

Reviewing a pair of 805 Beers from #FirestoneWalkerBrewing. 805 Original is a light and easy-drinking blonde ale, and is the top selling beer in California. 805 Cerveza is a twist on the original, brewed with lime.

Parabolita is a variant on Parabola #ImperialStout from #FirestoneWalkerBrewing, aged in #bourbon barrels for a year and infused with ingredients to give it a "salted caramel-style drinking experience."

#FirestoneWalkerBrewing calls its Hopnosis #IPA a “cold IPA” though it wasn’t immediately clear to me whether the brewery was playing on its use of #CryoHops, or if more was involved. As it happens, there is more to it than “cryo” and FW brewed up a solid #beer.
