Imagine a fediverse app gave 3 equally prominent buttons for posting text about a post; Comment, Reply and Whisper.

The difference is;

* a Comment is a text directed to a general audience, *about* the author's post (or the author themselves).

* a Reply is a text directed *to* the post author, and the accounts following them, and anyone else @mentioned

* a Whisper is a direct a text directed to the post author *only*, and anyone else @mentioned

@hollows Maybe the discussion should be NOT what corporate entity should we cede fandom to, and instead become how can we support federated servers so that we can continue to have free fandoms.

Maybe there should be a foundation to support the infrastructure of federated servers so that we don't feel tempted to go back to corporate instances. #fandom #fediverse #fediversefutures #fandom

I just signed up for a federated wiki! currently testing at #XWiki at @wakest. Thanks @NGIZero for supporting the fediverse and making cool stuff like this a bit more financially viable for folks to spend their time working on. #fediverse #FediverseFutures
