#fedia — Public Fediverse posts

Live and recent posts from across the Fediverse tagged #fedia, aggregated by home.social.

  1. I have not tried to post a new thread since that one. But I suspect it’s related to SDF being down and perhaps also without having a subscription to the community of the offline host. There is perhaps some fragility with mbin in that scenario. SDF is back online now after 2 months of down time, so it might be hard to reproduce.

  2. I’ve not seen that before. Is it happening every time you post?

  3. 404 error on post after posting

  4. Thank you. I want to get my account deleted with removal of all my posts (that may not get removed in the federated instances anyway...)

  5. There are still an extraordinary amount of bugs in this software. If you want you account deleted, I can delete it.

  6. The "Delete account" feature isn't working properly.

  7. I had to delete that magazine because it was causing the instance to crash. The mbin issue that caused that should be fixed now, though.

  8. Firefox but it's all good now. I had a scrolling problem.

  9. Issue with the "next screen" button/hitting the end of the posts prematurely is fixed now.

  10. I almost exclusively access fedia with a mobile browser. what are you seeing?

  11. I keep watching the code commits to see when it gets added. I'll ask them today though

  12. Reddit's no longer usable by mobile browser.

Guess it's back to books, 😀 no complaints.

  13. Any idea on when the mbin devs are going to make that reversion?

I don't really like having to browse combined. Unless there's a way to block microblog posts that I'm not aware of.

I do very much appreciate the temporary workaround, of course.

  14. When you have some time maybe you could check a 404 error in /m/fediverse

  15. Thank you for the effort you put in. And Congrats to your family!

  16. Congrats! Ignore fedia and have a great time at the wedding!

  17. Yup, looks like we're back to normal operations again!

  18. Yeah, I was seen 2 hours old threads. Today I see threads that are less than 1 hour old

  19. I put in a super ugly fix while I'm at the wedding. Hopefully that keeps it going till I can do a better job tomorrow.

  20. Thanks for all the time you spend on something for us to enjoy.

  21. Thank you. If you need some cash for taking care of stuff put out a call.

  22. Thanks. It’s mostly up and running now. Hopefully it stay that way till I can get back to it tonight.

  23. Also, I am about to head out to my youngest son's wedding, so will not be able to babysit fedia until much later this evening easter time.

  24. I'm sorry you have to spend some of your weekend straightening out messes that aren't yours :( And thank you for all the work you do for us!

  25. Hey everyone! I'm attempting to set up profile #verification here on #fedia.social. I've added a URL to my Astro website's markdown (with the same syntax as suggested HTML , etc.). I've also ensured that no other URLs point to my profile, as suggested in fedi.tips/how-do-i-verify-my-account/ .
Can someone guide me towards the right path?

Or am I missing something fundamental - is verification supported on non-Mastodon fediverse software? Thanks in advance!

  26. Happy Fedi-Friday! #Fedia and #infosecpub (to maybe a lesser degree) #Kbin / #Lemmy instances are rollin'! We have two growing #cybersecurity communities there for all who are interested.

    - Fedia: fedia.io/m/cybersecurity (324 subs)
    - Infosec.pub: infosec.pub/c/cybersecurity (139 subs)

I've been adding an interesting (at least to me) article a day to fuel things up as I can. See ya out there.

  27. For everyone creating communities (#Lemmy instances) or "magazines" on #Kbin instances be mindful of the very real deficiencies that exist related to moderation, as @thisismissem writes about here (hachyderm.io/@thisismissem/110). We're all both excited about the promise the #Fediverse brings and equally pissed at what is going on over on Reddit but there is real *danger* in growing communities using software that might not be ready for it. Read Emelia's post to gain more understanding of the potential pitfalls (and guidance around moderation). One thing I'll add is that botching this migration due to immature software could turn people off from the idea of Reddit-esque fediverse communities indefinitely.

@jerry I'm certainly no expert on community creation/management much less moderating mid-large size communities but there are certainly others within the .infosec sphere (👀 @tweedge) who could weigh in. Maybe it would be helpful to post a guide of some kind (not saying *you* need to create it but you could help market it) which fairly warns #fedia and #infosecpub channel admins that moderation tools are lackluster and to tread carefully as they scale out. Happy to volunteer my own time/perspectives on adding something to a larger wiki for your various Fediversal properties as needed!

  28. The ease in which I quit Twitter didn’t surprise me, but how I just up and peaced out from Reddit is wild. I never was a big Twitter user (mostly lurking/consuming) but I used Reddit All. The. Time. I think having faith in the #Fediverse after using Mastodon has helped ease the emotional transition.
