👓 It's the very last Friday in #Feblurary and we've had so many people asking for help on adding #AltText to images, and I've seen so many notifications of people using the new edit function to add text to their media - thank you thank you thank you!
To all the servers that participated, see you in October for #BlindAwareness month.
And for anyone who needs help adding descriptions, check out the #Alt4Me hashtag, your community is happy to help!
Happy Friday everyone 😃

Reminder we're taking part in #Feblurary - Every Friday in February pictures without ALT text will be marked. As of Mastodon update 4.1.0 you can now add/edit ALT text when you edit a post.
Check the example image to see how the markings looks.

Reminder Vivaldi is taking part in #Feblurary - Every Friday in February pictures without ALT text will be marked. After feedback we've chosen to switch from the blur to a red border as the unblur on hover did not work in certain clients. See the example.

February is here and Vivaldi is partaking in the #Feblurary - This means that every Friday throughout the month images without alt-text will be blurred until hovered over with your mouse. Try with the example image. 🙂

Happy #Feblurary!
February is Low Vision Awareness Month. This month, flipping.rocks joins servers like mastodon.art, fandom.garden, and toot.wales in blurring images that are missing alt text in the web client. You can see the un-blurred image by hovering your mouse over it.
Let's make the fediverse accessible for everyone! When you post an image, remember to add an image description. Or use a tag like #Alt4Me and someone will write one for you!

💞 This week's #MercherMindful falls on #Imbolc so you'll be seeing a lot of #snowdrops today!
This is a reminder that to help raise awareness for folks with vision issues, February will see images with no description temporarily blurred or highlighted 😱
Some servers are running on Fridays, others for a week, others all month on what is being called #Feblurary

CW: meta, vis.social, accessibility, community
February is Low Vision Awareness Month, and there's some CSS I can add to our instance for #feblurary
But I want to get some feedback from folks on THIS instance (vis.social) about participating in this Accessibility awareness effort...Just on Fridays, just in Feb.
So, vis.social folks, should we participate in this accessibility awareness effort?

We'll be participating in #Feblurary this February to highlight the importance of alt text on images for the vision impaired users of the fediverse. Every Friday throughout Feb we'll be adding a snippet of CSS to our code that will slightly blur any images without alt-text.

(We understand that adding alt text isn't always possible for those low on spoons etc. - this is to encourage people who *can* spare the time and energy to consider alt-text.)
