The rainforest is a very special classroom for both #ethnobiologists and local people. Field studies involving researchers and villagers allow the comparison of local knowledge and scientific knowledge, as here in the measurement of DBH (diameter at breast height), a standard measure of tree trunks, carried out by a #Baka villager and a biologist from the University of Yaoundé.

Cree Nations of Wemindji – #Quebec (2008). #Ethnobiologists identify culturally significant plants and prepare herbarium specimens at Old Factory, James Bay (northern Quebec). Their work is part of a collaborative project with the Cree Nation of Wemindji to obtain legal recognition of a part of Wemindji's marine and terrestrial territory as a #biodiversity protected area.
