This could be a good ZX Spectrum week. I'm learning the esXdos API, figuring out how to make programs work with both esXdos and the +3DOS. In parallel I am disassembling Bob Fossil's excellent browser to learn how it handles LFNs with the intention of adding a few functions to it.

I have made a ZX Spectrum Next dot-command called “SSX” that allows you to view SAM Coupé screens.

(I have also submitted it for consideration in a programming contest …the top prize a gleaming white Spectrum Next!)

Anyone familiar with ESXDOS enough who can generously give me a few tips on how to port or abstract the ZX Spectrum +3 file handling api (+3DOS) so that programs work on both Spectrum OSes?

At this time I only have one real Spectrum +3 to test on real hardware, no idea how to use ESXDOS on an emulator.
