Finding quiet spots in #Greece takes effort, but the #Epirus coast delivers. Taking a small boat around #Sivota to swim at the Blue Lagoon completely changed my perspective on the mainland. The water clarity by the limestone caves is unreal, and dense pine forests spill right into the Ionian Sea. Far away from heavy island traffic.

Nowa broń USA: 10-tonowy robot, który impulsem mikrofalowym „smaży” roje dronów

W odpowiedzi na rosnące zagrożenie ze strony zmasowanych ataków dronów, amerykański przemysł zbrojeniowy opracował nową, autonomiczną broń. Leonidas AR to 10-tonowy pojazd-robot, który zamiast pocisków i rakiet, wykorzystuje skoncentrowaną wiązkę mikrofal do natychmiastowego neutralizowania całych rojów bezzałogowców.

System jest rezultatem współpracy dwóch firm: General Dynamics Land Systems, który dostarczył 10-tonową, gąsienicową platformę autonomiczną (TRX), oraz Epirus, który opracował samą broń mikrofalową Leonidas. W rezultacie powstał bezzałogowy, zdalnie sterowany lub w pełni autonomiczny „czołg”, zdolny do poruszania się w trudnym terenie i ochrony wojsk przed atakami z powietrza.

Zasada działania broni przypomina kuchenkę mikrofalową, ale o wykładniczo większej mocy i precyzji. Jak donosi portal BGR, Leonidas AR celuje w nadlatujące drony i wystrzeliwuje niewidzialny impuls energii mikrofalowej (HPM – high-powered microwave). Wiązka nie niszczy dronów mechanicznie, lecz „gotuje” od wewnątrz ich wrażliwą elektronikę i obwody sterujące. Ponieważ dron jest bezużyteczny bez sprawnej elektroniki, natychmiast spada na ziemię.

Największą zaletą systemu jest jego efektywność. Na materiale promocyjnym udostępnionym przez producenta (załączam go poniżej) widać, jak pojedynczy, cichy impuls w ciągu sekundy neutralizuje cały rój różnorodnych dronów. Broń jest precyzyjna, co ogranicza ryzyko przypadkowych strat i nie generuje odłamków jak klasyczna amunicja. Co więcej, operatorzy mogą precyzyjnie dostroić częstotliwość wiązki, aby nie zakłócała ona działania własnych, sojuszniczych maszyn.

Leonidas AR jest wyposażony w 360-stopniowy radar, który pozwala mu samodzielnie wykrywać nadlatujące zagrożenia. W przypadku braku operatora, system może również autonomicznie namierzyć i zniszczyć wrogi rój dronów, działając jako w pełni zautomatyzowany system obrony pola walki.

A founder of the A.I.-powered data analytics giant #Palantir Technologies, he has more recently delivered billions of dollars to defense sector start-ups such as #Anduril and #Epirus and #Saronic.

Executives at these defense technology firms have been frustrated at the slow pace of the Pentagon’s shift away from traditional contractors like Lockheed Martin
to venture-capital-backed start-ups selling cutting-edge tools like A.I.-powered drones.

“Current regulatory regime still favors the legacy defense corporations and crowds out upstarts,”
Mr. Lonsdale, who donated more than $1 million to Mr. Trump’s affiliated political groups,
said in an email to The New York Times.

I feel blessed. I have some access to game (various wild birds, deer, hare, boar), access to pastured goats, #sheep and beef, truly pastured mountain chickens and their eggs. These chickens' bones look like a wild duck's, and the eggs are red beyond belief (no additives, the real thing). Also, I can easily get wild #fish and shellfish from our nearby sea.

Also, fresh veggies and fruits from my mom's garden.

This life is good.
