In 2023, bird #flu arrived on the rocky shores of the Valdés Peninsula in Argentina, ripping through the local colony of southern elephant seals. More than 17,000 seal pups died. It could take decades for the population to recover.
Now, a team of #ecologists, #epidemiologists and #veterinarians is scrambling to keep the same thing from happening to northern elephant seals.

On April 1 staff of CDC's Childhood #Lead #Poisoning Prevention Program was terminated as part of agency's reduction in force. The staff included #epidemiologists, #statisticians, and advisors who specialized in lead exposures and responses. #Epidemiologists in the# UK analyzed 7 million people who were notified that they were exposed to #COVID-19 by the NHS COVID-19 app in #England and #Wales between April 2021 and February 2022. Researchers found the app did, in fact, accurately translate the duration and proximity of a COVID-19 exposure to a relevant epidemiological risk score.
