" In the UK, any home for sale or rent has to get an #EnergyPerformance certificate. Assigned by a licensed home inspector, it comes with a rating, from G (least efficient) to A (most efficient), and recommends steps that the homeowner should take to improve the score, such as installing ceiling insulation or upgrading the boiler. It’s been eye-opening."
But so far, the ratings are not much reflected in the price.

What goes without saying?
• All new buildings should be zero-emission from 2028 and equipped with solar technology

What's the problem anyway?
1. Bad insulation
2. Natural gas accounting for around 42 % of energy used for space heating in the residential sector
3. Oil is the second fossil fuel for heating, accounting for 14 % and coal accounts for around 3 % -
What going on?
• Buildings get an energy performance class from A-G
• Class G = 15 % worst-performing houses
• Minimum class E and D has to be reached between 2027 and 2033 depending on what type of building it is
• There are a lot of details and exceptions. Also protections for those who can't afford upgrades2/4
