Many #endotherms 🦇🐦 respond to challenging environmental conditions (e.g., extreme temperatures 🌡️, low food availability) by entering #dormancy. That is, they greatly decrease their #MetabolicRate and body temperature and, by doing so, reduce their energy expenditure. 1/4
