This is disappointing. Took some red oak and worked it into a nice end grain board but look at all those fractures. Oak is already porous and was going to need some epoxy or at least a tung oil bath but with this many gaps and tears I don’t think I can keep it as something for utility.
Guess I’ll need to make it an art project. 😮💨 Ideas?

This edge grain board looks pretty good as it comes together. The corners are rounded and the first sanding is done. There’s a skirt to be assembled to hide the marble and some additional details so the board doesn’t slide and a finger indent. I hope to have finish on it late today or tomorrow. #woodworking #woodworker #endgrain #endgraincuttingboard #custom #custommade #onmyworkbench
