  1. Update for our California friends: If your State Senator is on the Transportation Committee and you haven't written yet to tell them to support SCR 193 to name the Yerba Buena Bay Bridge Tunnel after the Emperor, please please please write them today. First hurdle to get this to happen is a strong approval vote out of committee.

  2. We're always watching for interesting findings from the #EmperorNortonTrust, who between trying to get the Emperor's good name affixed to various fixtures of the Bay Area to remember his legacy, also research his history.

  3. Fun fact: in the early 20th century, #SanFrancisco decided to have (most of) the cemeteries within the city relocated to nearby Colma, including the Masonic cemetery that our namesake #EmperorJoshuaNortonI was originally buried in. He was relocated to the Woodlawn cemetery in 1934. The Emperor Norton Trust has located some previously unpublished photos from that event. You can read about it here: emperornortontrust.org/blog/20

  4. Our ship was far from the first thing named after #EmperorJoshuaNortonI. Among things that have been named for him are a pair of redwoods in Yosemite.

  5. More interesting research on our ship's namesake, #EmperorJoshuaNortonI, to share today: One of the things that stirred attention about Norton was his proclamation to dissolve Congress (something that some of us today might not object to), but it seems his independent leanings around government were well established before he proclaimed himself Emperor of these United states.
