    Amanda Hickman & co’s successful 2017 proposal for a #FiberArts #emoji set 🧶 🧵🧷🪡 included some of these arguments

“…there are no glyphs for the making, mending, or maintenance of textiles

    “Notably, the
available tool glyphs are all strongly associated with trades traditionally dominated by men (carpentry, construction, maintenance of machines)”

Were the emoticons animated with the vector graphics?

Like did the eyes move? I notice some of them are hard to tell apart in the screenshot — but if the ones on the bottom row were moving, that might explain it

You just know somebody was paid to come up with the idea of dismissing people as “professional protesters” 🪧

Also, people should be aware of the sexy “Placard” #emoji 🪧

Proposed by the rockstars at #EmojiNation who helped with the #HijabEmoji 🧕🏽

The only way to get a #tardigrade emoji is to propose one

The story that there are some on the moon must be included! 🌖

    unicode.org/emoji/proposals.ht

Personally, I’ve come to see #emoji proposals as a worthwhile and amusing creative endeavor regardless of success

I would love to read a tardigrade proposal 🤓

The folks on #EmojiNation’s Slack were extremely helpful in getting me through the process

  21. I sent a copy off first-thing for critique to the #EmojiNation folks who've helped get #Emoji hits like 🪇🥟🥦🩱🧕🏼🧬🫏🫘🩻🪈🪹🪺🩴🪩and 🪗 accepted (Many more great proposals have been rejected. 😿)

    Still waiting on #VultureEmoji...

  26. It’s #WorldEmojiDay!

Which we celebrate with the 🪗 emoji

Here’s to Unicode who approved it for all the best reasons & brought a bit of joy (and bafflement) when the world finds it on billions of phones 🌏

Here’s the story of proposing the #AccordionEmoji:

    accordionuprising.wordpress.co

If you’d like to propose an emoji, it can take a few years, but 😊 the folks at #EmojiNation helped a ton with my proposal

The folks at #EmojiNation helped me do it

I wrote up the process of creating the #Emoji proposal here:
    accordionuprising.wordpress.co

The main accolade somebody deserves who successfully gets an emoji proposal excepted, is that they were really lucky

And that maybe they learned something about patience, because the process takes at least two years, almost all of which is just waiting around after you turn in the proposal

Some proposals — successful and not — are very entertaining though
