🤔 🙄 There is a big difference between embellishment and straight making shit up. Do not expect him to resign. He has no shame. #mastodon #politics
Bill Kristol
@BillKristol“‘I’m sorry for having embellished my resume.’ Embellished? I do not think that word means what Mr. #Santos🤡 thinks it means. To ‘#embellish’ is to adorn…on occasion, it means to ‘exaggerate.’ This Santos🤡 did not do. He just made shit up out of whole cloth.”

Note to self...
When tooting it may seem fair
to write with a little more flairLike putting a rose in your hair
just to get folks to stare. But no need to embellish your prose
like the guy with the big red rose.Just say what you mean to say
if it connects, then they’ll say hey,That really hit the spot
I really like that a lot.So no need to confuse
with big words that bemuseyou can shorten it a lot
and use simple mused jot. -
We embellish
Our stories with the specific
way the sun angled itself
that day,
The feeling of grass against shins,
The shouts and cheers,
as we almost lost ourselves
If not for a last minute leap.. . .
(continued in thread) -
I cannot #embellish this,
there is no need,
it's a story of tragedy,
though not what you think. It's about a fridge,
jam-packed as it was
with food for a feast
for 17 hungry souls.'I'm done,' it said, 'kaput, finis'
though we did not hear,
just noticed in the morn
the cream seemed too warm.Oh my, but the freezer
was a sight,
pulled pork and a roast,
all gelatinous & jiggly.A scramble for coolers,
'More ice! More ice!'
A call to the store:
'I'm sorry, no one is here.' -

There is no need to #embellish anything – neither about the bad times nor about the good times.
We did have good times. We were living the dream and we lived it for many years. A fairy tale, only that it was real.
So were the bad times when the intensity that once had brought heaven on earth now brought hell.

Embellish the lie
with bells, whistles, and hatred
Don't fret, they'll buy it. -
Pebbles
At a table by the beach
I set my collected stones
To create a band of spectral order
As one like me is wont to do.It was not a real rainbow
But like a real one it did not last
Only an enhancement in my mind
As may this poem embellish yours. -
I don't mean to exaggerate
Or cause a fuss
I really think you should consider
What you write on the side of a bus
Not saying it's a lie
But it seems a stretch
Not calling you a menace
More a sociopathic wretch
Ah, you did #embellish
Painted in the lines
Then you used offshore banking
To hide all your crimes
At least in the pandemic
You didn't make it worse
Oh, you paid your friends
Out of the public purse
the honourable thing
Isn't giving out honors
For the right amount of bling

I will not #embellish verse
To appeal to the flock
Will not turn to the perverse
Simply to raise my stockDo not care to compete
For the emptiness of fame
Repeat the trending bleat
So more will know my nameI will write my verse to express my heart
And then write, and write some more
To tell a tale for the sake of the art
No influence to gain or points to scoreAnd if today writing becomes a chore
Then I will lay down my pen
until it's flow is pure, once more -
Your face lights up with invention.
We're here again - a place we never were
I can see the glow of excitement on the others.
Our history is expanded and embellished
I raise a glass and drink it all in
This evening is worth more than the last -
My skin is flawless
Cheeks rosing gently
My skin aromatic
But yet to reach perfection
I must embellish gently
The finishing touches
To a canvas masterpiece
Add light, always
The tiny flames of sparkle
To smooth away my cares
To gently wipe out all traces
Of my tired humanity

The phone pings.
Frantically she reaches for it, hoping for that message that would shape her future. Her heart started racing and her mood was upbeat; friends commenting on the radiant glow and the skip in her step since their eyes had met. Her imagination running wild at what might be possible. The love she had longed for and so desperately sought after a lifetime of heartache.
She'd #embellish the nature of the relationship when she spoke to her mother, who made no secret of her disappointment at her middle aged single daughter. But nothing was certain, not until she saw his message.
It would be perfect.
Everything she had hoped for.
She opens the message.
It reads: "I love you."
