In der Nacht vom 25. November 1942 sprengten die Widerstandsorganisationen EAM und EDES die Brücke von Gorgopotamos in die Luft. Der Erfolg der Aktion behinderte unter anderem für mehrere Tage den Nachschub der deutschen Truppen in #Nordafrika, hatte aber als Symbol für die Möglichkeit des Widerstands gegen die vermeintlich übermächtige #Besatzung höhere Bedeutung.
Die #Sprengung der Brücke war auch ein Fanal für den massiven griechischen #Widerstand gegen die deutsche Besatzung. Die Hauptkraft der #Partisanenarmee, die #ELAS unter Aris #Velouchiotis, hatte zeitweilig mehr als 120.000 Mann und fügte den Besatzern erhebliche Verluste zu.
"Velouchiotis steht auch heute noch ganz im Zeichen der politischen Landschaft Griechenlands. Von den #Linksradikalen wurde er für seinen Widerstand gegen die #Nazis ähnlich wie Che #Guevara oder Ho Chi #Minh in westeuropäischen Ländern zur #Symbolfigur erhoben." (...)

Da diese Timeline dankenswerterweise (noch) nicht zu den Verbotszonen der nun auch offiziell antikommunistischen Frontstadt #Berlin gehört, möchte ich an dieser Stelle explizit ALLEN alliierten Kämpfer*innen für ihren Sieg über den Faschismus danken.
Ganz besonders den Partisan*innen der #EAM/#ELAS (die den Faschisten ein besonders schmerzender Stachel im Fleisch waren) sowie den Soldat*innen der Roten Armee, die dem Morden in den Vernichtungslagern ein Ende setzten.
