  1. I keep repeating myself, but Samir #Amin|s #econometric work is a treasure trove of great data and it’s also presented in some nice graphs - here, the diff between what ground nuts should have yielded for Senegal, given the rate of expansion and prices on the global market, and what it actually yielded. It’s the empirical basis for a history of unequal exchange. @africanstudies @histodons

  3. Hi everyone, new server #introduction post!

I'm a researcher at #IIASA working on #energyaccess, #decentlivingstandards and equitable #energytransitions predominantly for communities in the global South. I mainly work with #rstats.

I apply #econometric methods to describe #inequities and understand the effects of #policy intervention. I also sometimes use #spatial methods to map things.

The threads on #econtwitter were/are incredibly helpful to my research and I look forward more here!

  6. Sharing two #opendata #openscience :stata: #data sets possibly useful to those #teaching #quantitative #causalinference or #econometric methods.

Citation: Dee, T. S. (2009). Motorcycle helmets and traffic safety. Journal of Health Economics, 28(2), 398-412

    Data/article: tom-dee.github.io/files/Dee_JH

The first is a basic fixed-effects study of helmet use on *two*-rider motorcycles. I find it useful for teaching internal validity, common support & sneaking in some theory (the "Peltzman hypothesis").
