Last night I was crossing Hopkins St and a car traveling at >70km/h ran straight through the red light of the pedestrian crossing...it's a 40km/h zone at that point.
The change from 60km/h to 40km/h on that end of Hopkins St has had little effect on the speed of cars because it's a wide multi-lane road that is only 40km/h for 600m, then 60km/h for another 400m before being 70km/h for the next 2km the CityLink motorway.

Some quick asphalt connecting the new Dynon Rd bicycle bridge to the existing path hints that maybe this bridge might actually open soon after being finished for over a year.

After much campaigning this yellow sign was removed from the corner of Dynon Rd/Sims St. It's dangerous because it blocks sight lines between motorists turning here and the cyclists crossing here.
The sign returned a month or so ago, it was placed higher up to not block the sight lines.
A few weeks ago they added this blue sign so that it blocks the sight lines again.
I'm truly baffled at the systemic failure.

The new Dynon Rd shared path bridge across the Moonee Ponds Creek is still closed, but they have completed the pedestrian path to the deadly onramp crossing.

Looks like Hopkins St and part of Dynon Rd will be 40km/hr from tomorrow. An excellent win for the Joseph Rd Action Group, BikeWest, Critical Mass and everyone else.
