The Metropolitan Transport Forum had an event for candidates in the upcoming Victoria state election in the Pascoe Vale district.
I asked a question about whether they support the Bicycle Network's 'Gimme 5' campaign for at least 5% of the transport budget to be allocated to building out Strategic Cycling Corridors.
All Candidates said they would support it.

The Victorian Socialists had our campaign launch on Saturday.
900 people bought tickets to this event, so many people that they needed an overflow space in the carpark.
We're running candidates in all 88 seats in the Victorian state election and have a goal of knocking on 500,000 doors to talk to people about socialist politics.

Victorian Socialists are having our campaign launch today at 4pm in Thornbury for the upcoming Victorian election.
I can't make it today but I heard there have been 900 tickets sold and that the speeches may have to be out in the car park to fit everybody.
That's a real revolution of Socialists.

Melbourne is going to run out of landfill space by 2035. Our existing landfill is almost full and it won't be possible to open new landfill within the boundary of Greater Melbourne without huge community objection. Opening landfill in rural areas will also face community objections and would greatly increase the transport costs for waste.
The only solution is that we need to produce less waste and match our personal waste production to our expectations of waste disposal.

We have a new premier in Victoria, Ben Carroll. A cyclist! maybe a MAMIL. Gabrielle Williams, the (up until now) Active Transport Minister, becomes deputy premier. Supposedly the deputy gets their pick of ministries, and I'd expect her to shift, given her lack of enthusiasm for her current job. Who do you think would do a better job as AT minister? #SpringSt #vicpol

Are you in Victoria?
Do you care about bicycle infrastructure?
Have you done this yet?It will only take you 1 minute.
Do it now.

CW: Vic politics
FUCK.
I really need the one major party that's not hellbent on removing my access to healthcare to not have a corruption scandal in an election year. #springst

What?!
"Labor has struggled in polls in recent months, with News Corp reporting in June that a majority of voters believed it was time for Ms Allan to be replaced as Victoria's Labor leader."
ABC! Why are you referencing a poll from a feral RW tabloid that has given up all pretence of balance in political reporting? Pathetic!

Drug and alcohol driver testing in the evening peak direction on Dynon Road.
Automobiles queued for a couple of kilometres back towards the city.
Almost seems like these police are trying to create a political incident in Melbourne's west.

Police believe Melbourne's bar wars mastermind is a 20-year-old from Essendon.

Vic Gov is reviewing Bendigo's bus network and asking for feedback.
I used to live in Bendigo and have suggested buses every 10 minutes on the main roads from the city centre to suburban centres.

The Victorian government looks set to abolish Group Ticket Voting (GTV) before the election this November. Antony Green discusses the change with some examples of the grossly unfair outcomes that the GTV system produced

Not new, but at least it's still being thought about.

About bloody time. Victoria stuck with group voting tickets far beyond their useful life.
