Hey, posting this from #GhostBSD!

I just upgraded my @kagihq subscription to a Duo plan so my wife could use it too.
It’s a terrific search engine with no ads or tracking. Never been a better time for you to check it out.

@nixCraft
I don’t understand why anyone uses a browser created by the company that turned humanity into a commodity. We *know* Google sees us as lemmings to be captured and sold. Why feed your captor?

@protonmail Below, you will probably see recommendations for other great things you can do to #DumpGoogle. It's a big topic and can get a little overwhelming, but like anything once you get into it is is not that hard. The purpose of this post is to suggest one simple thing you can do today. But by all means, look into what else you can do; alternative email, cloud storage, other browsers, VPNs, password managers. But today, you can switch browsers... give it a shot.

This 💯 !!! This new action by Google is a very good reason to #DumpGoogle.
Did it yesterday, and very happy.

Here is the new Google surveillance limited system:
- Firefox (change search to DuckDuckGo)
- Bitwarden
- ProtonMail
- sync.com
- LibreOffice (Desktop)
- Collabora Office (Android)
- ProtonCalendar
- ProtonVPNPeople also speak highly of Nextcloud...
-
So, one last update. With ProtonMail installed they pitch you on ProtonCalendar and ProtonVPN (they are just a click away...), so got ProtonCalendar on both desktop and mobile and just activated ProtonVPN. Everything works great and still have not spent a cent.
Total system:
- Firefox
- Bitwarden
- ProtonMail
- sync.com
- LibreOffice (Desktop)
- Collabora Office (Android)
- ProtonCalendar
- ProtonVPNTotal Cost: 0$ (though may someday do some upgrading plus make a few donations)
-
OK, got it all set up...
Took about 3 hours total. Added Bitwarden to the mix for a password manager, and Collabora Office for mobile word processing and spreadsheets.
Started with ProtonMail, creating two new email addresses, one for general use and one private one for banking, Bitwarden etc. Then got the desktop set up, then did the phone.
So far so good. Just loving how sync.com just integrates with File Explorer.
Did not have to spend a penny or give anyone a credit card

So, planning to phase out Google and looking for recommendations.
Data security and data privacy are key concerns.
Current thinking is:
- Firefox
- ProtonMail
- sync.com
- LibreOfficeThoughts?
[Edit: Got it set up today, and absolutely loving it so far. See below. Thank you for all the suggestions!]
