CW: Music production, drumlogue
What I hope to see from future firmware updates:
More transient samples for the analogue sounds. They’re a bit limiting.
Some slow LFOs (measured in bars) that I can point at parameters like drive or filter resonance or channel volume so that I can evolve the pattern over several bars, without having to plug in an external LFO generator. Currently I have to fake this with motion sequencing and it’s tedious to make long envelopes that way.
A flam accent, to go with the ratchet already present.

Spent some time messing with my new drum machine yesterday. Some UX thoughts:
While it’s possible to make a 12/8 beat (or something that isn’t a multiple of 16 in length), spanning it over several bars requires unnatural splitting of the bars into 16-beat segments.
The Sinevibes-designed Nano user synth unit (or the user unit runtime) is buggy and requires a reboot to rectify.
I haven’t even tried to use the pattern chaining feature because it looks half-baked. AIUI you have to set up a chain manually from the panel, and it can’t be saved.

Some thoughts about the sound:
It sounds good, within the reasonably limited range of sounds that it is capable of making. OOTB the repertoire isn’t as broad as, say, the Syntakt.
The analogue drum sounds have a fair bit of noise if you turn the drive up high.
Samples are limited to about 2 seconds which might explain why all the cymbals sound pretty weak.
Effects are limited to delay, reverb, and master effect, the latter of which you are going to always want to set to Compressor. There is no flanger or phaser (until someone writes one using the SDK). At least there are individual outs which lets me patch an external effects processor to just one part of the pattern.

Number two currently on my list is the #Korg #Drumlogue. That does analog and sample based drums but couldn’t be the brains.
