DreamTracker 0.71 Released!

Dreamtracker is a native music tracker for the Commander X16 8-bit computer. Also includes the Dr. Wily Stage 1 cover/remix I've been working on. Check out the song here:

Folks using an emulator should use a recent (source) version of x16emu to hear the sounds properly. Likewise folks using real hardware should be on a recent KERNAL release and the latest VERA firmware. The song makes use of the XOR wave modifiers for the triangle and saw waveforms.

I _think_ solved the save corruption bug but I'm not fully convinced yet and until I am I don't want to release 0.71 just yet. But I did add a fun effect (ability to change the background color via a pattern effect)!

DreamTracker 0.70 is out! Though it's got kind of a nasty save bug which I'm still sorting out which means 0.71 probably won't be far behind. But while I work on squashing it, I've been writing a cover of the Dr. Wiley Stage 1 theme from Mega Man 2.

Novavax is kicking my ass so instead of having band practice today I just messed around with DreamTracker trying to compose a cover of Corona's Rhythm of the Night (yes that one). Main part is in there, although it would need a fair bit of polish before I'd consider it "good" :P But here it is anyway!

Another demo of Pathfinder, this time with a BUNCH of PCM samples! I got PCM rocking pretty well! Waiting for cartirdge RAM expansion options for 16k per page; and want to add a few effects (like retrigger, jump to position, maybe some volume and pithc slides). For now, I'm really excited how DreamTracker is developing.

Dream Tracker now has a home on the web! At present it's just the documentation but it's something!

I'll be putting up binary releases there as well which should make it easier to use.

Speaking of, in the latest release these now a total of 8 effects (including sweeps and arpeggio!). I spent the day working on docs so haven't worked on more effects but I'd like to get vibrato soon. I'm quite excited about "tables" as well (similar to tables in LSDJ) as a compliment to envelopes but I may wait just a bit on that until I have more effects to make tables more useful.

FM and PCM support are planned too! Very much so! I just wanted to get PSG support good enough I could start writing music. And speaking of, we (the band) are working on a chipsurf song using Dream Tracker already!

Another Dream Tracker update! I thought I was done with some of the hard stuff but had to end up refactoring the row-playback routines...a lot :) But they're in a much better place - easier to understand and easier for when I start adding things like effects, YM2151 channels, etc.

Once I got the thing working again I took off my dev hat and put on my music one for a while and worked more on the test song I've been using to test and show off current features and thought I'd share the progress:
